AIV=-Auxillary Air Valve,You got 2-one either side behind front wings,they are to get the cats working quicker,as you are loosing the cats,these can go too!

Short term only if you didn't want to remove the valves mate,personally I would! ;)

do i need to buy anything else such as one of the 'X' pipes to make it fully de-catted?

My mate fitted these recently and are a good piece of kit!-these replace the cats-hence the name,as for the rest of the system,it depends if it marries up to these pipes.

Boldy(the mate) has a Blueflame cat-back fitted and these fitted no problem!

As for the chip,the standard will work fine,it's just that upgraded ones loose the function anyway(if you get my drift!)

if the pipes were just cut off, and the valves left where they are for now, would it be o.k.?

Idle fuelling was altered with AIV removal some cars have problems with emission control test. The dirty fix is to create a small vacuum leak when you go for the MOT.

Never run like that myself but others do.

mine waas like that when i got it and no probs at all, just a note, it's a bitch to fit those devorce manifolds as the bolts on the tubs are hard to get to, took me best part of 4hrs to get the bolts out

LUXURY!!! Took me 2 days while the girlfreind beat me with broken bottle, and then at night she would rub lemon juice into mi cuts and spit in me eyes!
