Pension Age

WHATS THE RETIREMENT AGE?

is it 65?

Pension Age is 65.

Retirement age is whenever you want to ;) It depends on you circumstances, private pension etc.

Some people I work with have already retired I think, at least I never see them do any bloody work  but then neither do I

I think that the pension/retirement age has already been changed. Depending on your date of birth it could be up to 68 now. Do a google search on pensions or retirement and you should find something. I know that with my year of birth 1967, I am expected to work until I am 67 before I can draw my state pension. The way I feel right now, I don't think that I will make it to 67!!!

There's no compulsary retirement any more due to the age descrimination act thingy that came out in the last 2 months. So if you want to work to 80, and are capable then good luck to ya. Even though I don't know anyone who would.

The act was brought out so the gov could save money on everyone collecting a state pension when they hit 65.

fook wish i'd stayed with BP they get to retire at 50, would only have had another 9 years to go instead of the 24 I have now :(

I'm lucky, I can pick up a healthy pension in just over a year if I want. God bless the forces!

Doesn't look like it has changed yet although I think it will get through the back door. Another money spinning idea by our wonderful government.

Have a look Here

Yeah but they have got rid off the compulsary retirement which is in effect. Meaning they want you to keep working like you haven't worked long enough already

You get your bus pass at 60 now, man or woman, one of the very few benefits we men get from the 'equal opportunity' legislation. (well can you think of any others?)

Dave

Yeah, we don't bleed once a month....

i hope i make it to 65.......

..

Yeah, we don't bleed once a month....

I don't remember reading that in the legislation.

In any case not many of them bleed at over 60

Christ, the whole thought of looking forward to getting my bus-pass at 60 just makes me want to pull my testes through my nose.

Don't knock it - I used to use the bus maybe once every five years, 'cause I ALWAYS used my car.

Since getting my pass I use the bus whenever I can and it saves me pounds & pounds in petrol, parking fees and wear&tear on the car.

It saves me hours of time travelling (buses have bus lanes you know) and looking for parking spaces.

Plus lots of frustration I would otherwise suffer in traffic queues.

I don't expect you to wish your life away but being a wrinkley has it's benefits.

Cheers - Dave
