I suppose our Z's have reached an all time low on price, it really is a buyers market at the mo & has been for sometime.

ok if ur buying, crap if ur selling.

But i think in the next few years our Z's will increase in value as they push the 20year mark

cheers martin

I see this on lots of Japanese car forums - people amazed their cars have depreciated.

I don't think they'll ever really go up in value - except for the odd cherished, low mile minter or other really nice examples.

Cars depreciate. They very, very, very, very rarely appreciate.

That quite true, never expect to make money, lol

But in 2years these car have dropped 80/100 % lol

cheers martin

But i think these Z32 tt in good condition will go back up in price in maybe 5years

Cheers martin

People said the same a few years ago and prices still dropped. In the whole, because there are an increasing number of tatty and low-brow ones about. A good Z will still fetch a reasonable sum if you're prepared to wait.

but it makes parts to fix them alot cheaper dont it - so thats a bonus

seen engines with turbos selling on ebay for 2-300 quid

My king of the road feeling is not diminished when i see a new Mazda RX8 that cost £25000 and i know my twee zed is worth £5k. I feel good that i have a bargin. I have no plans at all to get mine replaced. Which helps me rationalise spending £3000 a year on fuel lol.

How much are they selling for guys? They are very cheap here too!

Bottom end, £1000, that's usually for a tatty 1990 N/A auto 2+2. Good twin turbo manuals can go for £4000 - £5000 still. See them go for more, but those tend to be select examples etc.

This is true of the Jap market as a whole I believe.

RX7's are going for peanuts due to the crap thats being brought over dragging the price down with it.

I know of a couple of RX's going at the moment with fresh rebuilds for under £5k each.

Crying shame if you ask me.

Well, that 4000 - 5000 gbp gets you a hell of a car though.. Are they common? I think i see them about 3000gbp for a decent one here.

Not likely to be getting Z32's coming over from Japan now, except for the late model/highly modified versions.

A lot of the Rough examples are dissapearing.....standards are rising.

£4k - £5k should get you a really nice tidy, low mileage TT manual. Bare in mind, most of the examples we have over here are Japanese imports anyway, so a percentage of the value is the privilege (value) of the car being in the UK...if that makes sense. They are pretty rare over here. You hardly ever see them on the road. I've not seen one on the road for a month at least and that was a car that belonged to someone I know.

There’s not really much of a price variation between SWB and LWB anymore, although the SWB becomes more saleable same goes for the slick-top. But they don’t often fetch a huge amount more than the 2+2 anymore. A lot of people prefer the looks of the 2+2 anyway.

....just to add, the country where they still demand a good second hand price is in the US. A very good low mileage TT manual will still fetch about $10,000USD with their 2:1 exhange rate ratio, that makes them double the value (to them) than ours are to us.

Yep, understood. Your right! That was a nice explanation mate ;) Thanks very much!

Yes , but there is a saturation point, say maybe 2009 , twenty years from z32 production,

these cars will become rarer & increase in value

Out of all the cars ive owned & ive owned alot , i think the Z32 is the tops i love these cars

Thats exactly it, waiting. At the end of the day its all down to us zed owners to push the price up, most people want a quick sale so they drop the price to sell it, setting the precedent for the rest of the zeds. start now by putting up the prices and waiting

I'm torn between feeling depressed at the low value, and overjoyed at the thought of being able to buy half a dozen of them for the price of a new Mondy, lol.

Resale value never enters my head when buying a car (just as well, lol). I think if you worry about that all the time you will ruin your ownership enjoyment of a car.

It can be a positive when cars like ours go down in value. More people are prepared to buy them, almost as disposable toys, and with this increase in ownership comes extra parts availability. With an increase in parts options comes business competativeness, so more options, higher quality and eventually, cheaper parts ;)

Just got my car mot'd today, passed with flying colours, absolutely nothing to advise me on. So chuffed. So took the long way home and ragged the tits out of it (because it always feels "safe" after an mot lol)

What were we talking about again?

So a good standard Zed is worth £4-5k. Why is it then that I am struglling to get £3k for a Zed with 000's spent on it?

The most I have been offered is £1000. I would NEVER sell the car for that.....

Like you say, I'll wait for a true enthusiast to appreciae what I have already done and continue the project.

There are good Zs and there are good Zs. What someone might be willing to sell it for, isn’t always what someone is willing to buy it for. Some over value theirs, others undervalue. A good condition low mileage rust free Z in pretty much immaculate condition will fetch more than one that’s had money spent on uprating certain bits and gadgets which hasn’t got a tidy body. I dunno, just going on preference here I guess. But that’s usually the case. Regardless of how much has been spent on it, only the very best condition Zs will demand the premiums.

UK ones aren't demanding their premium now either as there are a lot of rusty ones about.

Were over halfway now anyway!

Si, I agree with some of your comments but say if someone bought my car for £3k, spent another £2.5k tidying it up, they'd have an awesome Zed, worth at least £6, maybe £7K imo.

You haven't had it up for sale for long. Give it a really good clean and a polish and take some more flattering photos. Might get more interest then. :)

Not a bad idea. I even thought about finishing the interior; that'd make a HUGE difference and it not a hard job! Thing is, I end up wanting to keep it! :smash:

Well if you could refit what you have and clean it, it would make a start. Currently, it's covered in a thick layer of road film from all the gritting. Seriously, good photos and a clean car do wonders for its saleability.

I've seen (and bought) cars which have been absolutely filthy for almost nothing (that the owner couldn't shift), given them a deep clean and sold it on after for more money in half the time. Let's face it, without wanting to sound horrible, your car is filthy! ;)

Get some shine back into that paintwork as it's quite flat. Half a day with a sponge and a bottle of AG Super resin and it'll look like a different car! :) It's an unmolestered (visually) car in pretty reasonably shape for a UK spec. But as has been said, with what you've done to it, you would make more money breaking it.

PLUS, the 350 photos of your gearnob and pics like this.....----> aren't going to be beneficial of the sale.
