Anyone know the effect of the speed sensor being disconnected from the ECU? While running the power for my amp I noticed a Greddy speed limiter controler cut next to the ECU with one loose wire so I figured it had been disconnected. With some help from the friendly people at 300zx.com I got the wiring diagram for the Greddy and the ECU. However when I went to wire it up I found that the connector used to splice it into the speed sensor had come un-crimped and the bare wire was laying behind the ECU! I got everything hooked up properly and it seemed to be running smoother and also seems to have more power. Is it just my imagination or does the ECU go into some safety mode when this signal is missing?

speed sensor does what it says on the tin senses speed :wack:

as far as im aware it wont put it in to any safety mode, but with it disconected it will effect the power steering and speedo, it may also effect the gear changes on the autobox.

yes, ECU will go into a *semi* safetymode when speedsignal is missing.

most noticable is the revlimiter will kick in earlier (~ 5500rpm),and some other small changes will be set.

If you have a Jim Wolf ECU there won't be much difference, as Jim Wolf binned most of the safety features that are build into the ECU.
