Running costs ? ? ?

anyone had these changed - I hear they last about 90,000 miles then are shagged?

Any good prices or recommended garages?

Im after some running costs coz as Tim has pointed out these cars can be really expensive to run.

If anyone can post some average prices of thigs they've shelled out for it would be mopst appreciated.

In my last topic I meant the turbos.

sorry people

Mine (the first pair) lasted 130,000 miles and even then only one was playing up. It always make sense to change both since the labour involved is not cheap since in either involves an engine out job of a back door job with the gear box removed.

You should probably budget about 2k including VAT to have the job done properly

Jason,

Didn't want to worry you but the purchase price is just the beginning. Here's a list and cost of some service items I've fitted to my Zed over the past 11 months, two things to consider though 1)Most parts are upgrades 2) The car was 'fresh' from Japan when I got it.

here goes:

4 x Good Year Eagle F1 tyres = £357.00

Fuel Filter = £16.54

S/H power steering pump = £70

4 x brake disks and pads = £370.00

EBC Red brake pads = £100.00

Tie Arm bushes = £50.50

S/H Fuel Pump controller = £40.00

60K service kit (Cambelt etc) = £300.00

Denso Iridium spark plugs = £70.50

5ltrs Fully Synthetic oil(per 6000mls) = £25.00

Oil filter (per 6000mls) = £4.00

I have done all the work on the car myself, other than the cambelt change, so there are no labour charges.

It costs me 32p per mile to run my Zed, inc insurance.

I have covered 17,500 miles in 11 months without any real dramas, you do have to 'care' for a Zed though wink.gif

HTH

Tim

PS, If you are really worried about the cost of repairs you could always consider a warrenty, try www.warrantywise.co.uk They quoted me about £250 for 12 months cover including the turbos!

Mine have been blowing well for the past 150,000 miles and are still going strong

Keep on top of the oil changes, using good oil and they'll last ages (all being well).

There has been a couple of topics on the interval between oil changes and whether you change it often it is necessary to use high grade - I've gone for 3K changes with high grade synthetic oil, given the price of the oil and the filter is only £2.50, the filter gets changed as well! I'm not saying this is the right thing to do, but I have had no problems (yet!........)

Thats what I do aswell Mark, and like you never had a problem wink.gif.
