Hi All,

Just been on a 600 mile round trip over the weekend to Stonehenge, London City and then back home. I've just had a polyeurethane bushing kit fitted and a strange noise has developed (don't know if the two are linked really). When I am accelerating from rest to motorway speeds there is a noise coming from the back end but it's not continuous. It starts at about 60 and it comes in waves like a wheel bearing gone but in a cyclic action. It's like the diff is whining but I think if the diff had gone it would be a continuous noise. It only happens in top gear and if you start to go up an incline and the revs rise to maintain speed.

Also, if I back off the throttle there is a solid "THUNK" from the rear like the prop has come loose. If I bang the throttle on and off it goes "THUNK THUNK" with each dab on and off.

Apologies for the descriptions but it's hard to describe noises. :) :) :) :) :)

HARTY.

Oh by the way, I'm really pissed off that I didn't see ONE Z on my travels. Where are you all on a weekend  .

Fixing our cars.

Have you changed the diff bushes as well, this will transmit more diff noise as well as subframe bushes .

It was a standard poly kit from Smithy. I don't think it includes diff bushes.

poly kit does normally have the diff bushes. i put the noise down to the diff bushes on my car.

Yes this is the same problem im having and its very annoying,, can anyone shed some light on this matter????

Does it vibrate as well at about 80 mph or is it just the noise ?

i dont get any vibration, only below 1500 rpm then above that its sweet, i just get the clunk from behind on and off the throttle, ive bought a nismo gearbox mount hoping to cure the prob. im sure its to do with the drivechain as i can feel the gearstick moving back and forth on and off throttle, so im assuming something to do with wobbley gearbox, diff? something stiffer should make a difference, but i know il be getting more vibraton with the nismo but so be it :) as long as tht clunk goes.
