I've been having boost problems for a couple of weeks, It only comes on full boost at about 5000rpm when it used to be 3000. At 3000 it's only on about 3-4psi :( . I've had a good check around for a possible boost leak and have so far been unsuccessful. It also has a metallic tinkling sound coming from the turbo area which you can only hear at around 2-2500rpm as the throttle is let off. I took it to my local garage today (he's done work for me before) and he had a listen to it and suggested that it could be the actuator. He's getting it up on the ramps for a proper inspection on Tuesday, anything else he should look for? If it is the actuator, is it servicable/adjustable? If not, is it going to hurt me financially?

 to your wisdom.

Its a little difficult without hearing it first hand................... if it is the actuator, there not expensive.

but it could be a turbo, that noise could be oil starvation.

not good to drive if it is that, get it checked out asap

& good luck

cheers martin

All fixed.

The pin on the actuator linkage had broken. Now it boosts instantly, almost like it's on a switch. :)

Its on the side of the turbo, with the bar extending to the exhaust housing on the turbo...

Yeah you can see it from under the car, passenger side is MUCH easier than the drivers side :)
