Right at this moment in time i'm poised on completing my wheels,

The rims are polished and the centres are being polished mid february.

The wheels themselves are from a supra so have a centre bore of 60mm, the zed being 66.10mm

I will probably end up having to fit spacers, now here's the question:

The centre of the hubs on a zed have the inner bore locator that comes up by 3-5mm and locks into the centre of the wheel to stop it from moving about.

If i fit spacers surely this won't locate any more so is there any point in having the centres bored out to 66mm if a spacer would bypass this anyway as they're just plates with no locator.

Is it necessary to have some made or just get the flat plate ones that i know slick pete has in his garage and bolt them on?

Depends on what spacers you get. Sure, cheap universal ones won't take up the deficit of loosing a location point ie centre bore. You could get some made up on one side having a lip machined for the Z centre bore size and the other having a lip for the wheel bore size.

How much are you wanting to space the wheels out by?

Just get new spigots if you don't want to space it....or if you want to use specific Z spacers.

The problem being if it were the other way around that the wheel bore was 6mm too large i cut just get some liners bonded in.

Because they're a smaller bore than needed, spacers with lips wouldn't solve the problem as the spacer would have to be so thick to accomodate the larger hub lip then machine another smaller lip on top you're talking about a 5-10mm spacer.

I haven't tried the wheels on the rear of the car with tyres yet to see just how big the spacer would have to be or if i actually need one.

£100 quid to bore out the centres is a large expense if i'm still going to have to buy spacers as well just to fit them at 80 quid a pair

It's the chicken or the egg question, can't assemble the wheels till the centre is bored out if it's needed to be and can't try them out for fit until the wheels are assembled :( :headvswal

You can get non hubcentric 15mm wheel spacers bolt on.

If you see my other thread i went out and built one of the wheels with tyres up to see how it sat and to be honest with a spacer i'd be rubbing against my arches every 30 seconds.

That's with 10mm spacing so with 15 they'd sit right out the arches so i think i'm going to just spend the money and get them bored out as they are so they sit in by 10mm.

hi Nick thankd for the board if was v good and fast, had afew nice comments about. and the instructor couldn't belive what paid for a qualitly board like that. so owe you a beer mate.

back to topic i have some 3mm spacers here which just slide on ie dont locate. i had them on my zed before i got my new alloys to get the wider wheel look from the standard alloys.

send a pm with address if you want to try them out, or i hope to get to the mids meet in feb so will fetch them with me.
