think that tells you you have to find someone who knows how to work on Z's ;) There's plenty of Z owners up your way, I'm sure they must be able to suggest someone :)

This is related to the snapped belt you mentioned in other thread ? In which case it all depends on what/any engine damage done.

The VG is an Interference engine, so if belt broke it could of bent valves, damaged pistons..etc If its an Auto your more likely to get away without damage.

If engine is fine, then most specialists will charge £400-£500 for cambelt change.

Zeds hardly ever do valve damage when they snap the belt. This is due to the cams settling off-lobe with all valves closed. I've gone into gone into a lot of detail on this on previous threads.

£1500+ is just plain rediculous! Maximum £500 to replace the belt. If you fancy doing the job yourself I have some old cambelts lying around that I could send you. Stick one on and do a compression test to check for any damage internally. If all ok then you can carry on and order a new belt and tensioner... DO NOT run a second hand cambelt on an engine for any purpose other than this though lol...

I'm sure i've seen some of the registered garages do the whole 60k service for £500 or something along those lines?

£1500 is just plain stupid
