A guy at work has a claimed 470 fwbhp poopra. I said it will be around 420 rwbhp (with about 10% transmission loss) if he was lucky. He has got the hump saying the difference isn't that much and he should have at least 450 at the wheels.

 

Is that right? I thought the very best cars gave away 10% and some can be closer to 20%

where did he get it tested anyway? usually they give you the rwhp before the fwhp on the printout?

and if he hasnt even been to a dyno i'd say 350whp max and he's full of it.

Thing Is, He Prob Hasn't Got 470 Fwbhp. Most People I Know, Think Of A Number And Double It. My Fiat Brava Has About 650 At The Wheels Coz Its Got A Drilled Air Box! Lol

If he hasn't had it dynoed then he may as well go back to the pub and impress people with his figures there. If it was 470fwhp (which it probably isn't) then its probably 400rwhp ish. As a comparison the Yellow Banana has been dynoed on many different dynos and it has 465rwbhp and 540fwbhp(loss of 75bhp through the drivetrain) and the Banana is an Rx7 so prob looses less than a Supra (although not certain of that).

the thing that gets me is that if it was built to make 470bhp he'd have had it set up on a dyno. i would seriously doubt he'd spend a decent tuning wedge (£1k+ min if he doesnt like his car) and then not pay the £40-60 for a dyno or 2?

if he's not talkin bull he should be able to pull his graph out and show you.

and at that power level he'll deffinately lose more than 20bhp whatever car he's got.
