Feel free to call me an idiot as this is the second time I’ve been caught out like this. There I was getting more and more worried about an increasingly wobbly back end: have the shocks gone, why can’t I get the HICAS fixed, have my bushes dribbled and can I please keep this damn thing on the tarmac where it belongs.

http://www.event-tyres.co.uk came round on Friday to junk the F1s in favour of a pair of Falken 452s and when I drove home – what joy. Much much better back end. Still needs work but no longer shimmies over bumps or feels like it’s going to spit me off the road at any time. All because the nuts were properly tightened. (Unfortunately they managed to put the wheels on the wrong way round so I have to hide from the wheel police until that’s corrected.)

So avoid f*wittage - check your nuts and keep 'em tight. Manual says 98-118Nm, 10-12kgm, 72-87 ft-lb

Sorry Couldn't resist!

Weekly task like oil and water in my opinion....

I take my wheels off to clean round the inside every time I clean the car, so wheel nuts are always checked for tightness. :)

Should be retorqued after a couple of weeks of being removed, as they have a habit of loosening!
