I bought mine about a month ago (friday before chrimbo) and have been planning to complete the car from scratch to what i want, after talking to quite a few people and spending the day with a bodyshop looking at all the options to get this car the way I want it doesnt make sense money wise for me to do it to the car ive got :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: I dont have the money for a showcar or to bring it up to the level of some of the members on here, I thought it would be cheaper then it is and is my fault for not doing my research first.

 

I am not a fan of the pearl white so it would have to be bare metal resprayed as i wouldnt be happy with just a colour change, I thought i could live with it but unfortunatley it bothers me too much to live with.

 

Shes a stunning low milage car and is great in everyway but is very much standard engine wise and the interior is nice but just not what i want. The list ive got and the idea in my head of how I want my ZED to look doesnt weigh up.

 

Custom interior is a must and to the exact colours i have in mind, If it was just this alone then it wouldnt be a problem, I can take this to any car i get but when added to all the other bits means its the wrong side of exspensive :rolleyes:

 

Getting the engine to near 450+bhp is a feat on its own let alone with everything else.

 

Sorry to go on but ive started to realise this over the last week and have ordered and bought crap loads of stuff for her (see my rides) thinking it was going to happen but today is when after talking to a bodyshop and Topless garage that it really hit me that i would be better off throwing all the money into a beast of a car and then bit by bit change to want i want rather then trying to build a brand new car.

 

The 2hr drive back from the bodyshop was horrible, Ive really fallen for mine but i went in with my heart and not my head, I should have done it the other way around to what i have. :slap:

 

The good news out of all of this is that im after a new ZED :) Theres a few members motors that id love to buy but feel it would be rude to ask before offered :rofl:

 

Anyone with a resprayed or absolute mint paintjob and 450bhp pref 500bhp ZED that has thought of selling and wasnt sure then heres a little push.

 

Ive got a Very (in my mind and more then most of the cars on here have sold for) decent amount of money in "CASH" for the right car, I will also have to sell mine too which adds even more to the pot but i dont need to sell to buy yours unless its MAC`s or CJ`s :rofl: then sell the missis and kid, tvs, pc, golf, family, friends and then myself as a rent boy and i could just about afford the engine!!!!

 

Any advice or help in my quest would be very much appreciated, As soon as i left the bodyshop i wanted to call a fellow ZED owner to ask them their thoughts but havnt met any of you yet, I spoke to Jason Farrow for ages the other night and it was great to get a different perspective on things.

 

I also dont need to be called an idiot as i allready know this.

Spent the day down there today jason, top bloke and amazing work!! Some of the cars that were there are amazing let alone the pics of the ones he has done!

 

You need to get some photos of yours up there as he is planning to do a wall of cars.

I dont think im in CJ`s range TBH mate, I was told today that Andy Lines car would sell all day long at 20k which in my best Dragons Den voice IM OUT.

 

Ill give Kirbz a shout, didnt really think of importing one myself so well worth a shout.

 

I know it takes time to get a minter unless like you one falls from the skies :rofl: ;) but its the cost side thats the killer on mine not so much the time. I just cant throw the money at it that some of the cars on here have done unfortunatley!!

So am after the best i can get then bit by bit whilst having a stunning car can change to my style not have to design the chassis from bolts up if you get what i mean.

In a way I agree and also that of looking for a beast of an import will be cheaper.

 

I can honestly say though don't have that problem. My problem is I don't have the money up front so my Zed is my project. Ongoing til...well always.

 

Makes me think when alot of my mates called me a girl as I wouldn't except any colour other than black/blue but you gotta go with what you like.

Luckily it seems not as bad as you (sorry).

My problem is I am not great around an engine. Can do odd jobs and follow diagrams and use common sense but that's about it.

Due to this I saved money to buy a beefy import. After about a 2 years I just about had the money then low and behold you need to use it on something that cropped up (gutted) :cry:

After this I couldn't wait another lenghty time so only spent about 3 months finding a Zed I liked and could work on.

Never regreted it since, couldn't trade the Zed for anything else. :)

I hope mine works out like your story mate, really do :)

 

Ill get there but its just finding the right car at the right price so time is evrything on my part.

I do get what you mean and can understand it but in a way unless you buy a stock car you will allways have someone elses footprint on there.

Im guessing 555injectors dont cost £500 second hand which is my thinking on buying a modded car, if that makes sense in a weird way, so if someone else has built an engine from scratch then id reap the savings as im sure your V8 didnt give you back anywhere near to what went in.

 

Id love nothing more then to do it all the way from the ground up but i dont have the money for it and also i see you done work on yours yourselve which i just dont have the brains or skills to do so means paying a hell of a lot of labour out.

Mainly dependent on some items arriving, but hopefully within the next week or so. But I need at least one day off work to fit it all in the car ;) so I'll have to wait and see.

spongey yr mad mate,u hav a lovely car there and not a bad colour either,swop ya mine if u want to do things and make yr own lol,hav a few things to do including the tubs,and u hav only just got it ,wood say hav this year with it and go to as many meets as pos and i bet u chage yr mind,we wood all love 400-500bhp zeds but i will never no,hav had mine comin on to 3yrs in june and hav not once got bored or wanted to sell my zed,i love it to bits and its SILVER ,i no it will always keep me skint but then so does the mrs lol,once again spongey u brought a lovely car off a member who looked after it,hav read some horror storys about people buyin duff zeds as they didnt hav the first idea about what they were takin on and how much they cost to keep running sweet,u did the right thing and did yr research,i have a bit to do to mine but ROME was not built in a day and nor are zeds,plus with a mega high powered zed u hav to keep on top of it and that costs money,hope u change ya mind spongey,but its yr decision at the end of the day,all the best mate garry

Spongey, i've got to say i also think your mad! Ok the colour isnt exactly what you want, that can be changed in the future. Tbo i cant really understand where your coming from, your talking about getting another car that is half how you want it, then carrying on to change it to tatally how you want it? Your allready half way there mate you have a zed a good one at that. I think your being impatient bud (no offence) but your new to the zed game and what you gotta realise is these cars are ALL on going projects and the guys who have got the show quality cars you are after have spent years and pots of money getting them the way they want, its a slow process and have all had to spend time driving them around untill they got them to how they want them. Your far better off with a car you know the history of and building yourself which you will know every detail of than importing one your very unlikely to know any history of, it could cost you a lot more money in the long run if you buy a car with a 500bhp engine that goes bang! Keep the car you have and work on that just be patient mate.

6.5 years and £30K later mine is just about as I want it :)

Would consider a very good offer though ;)
