 As above! Little bit about what has happened, over heated, did a water by pass, dry compression test are as follows, top figure being back of engine closest to the cabinet. Forgot the full throttle bit though! :wack:

Driver side

130psi

155psi

170psi

Passenger side

155psi

155psi

135psi

Opinion please! Take it that it isnt too bad but isnt that great either. The car does still feel a bit slower then before, so I guess the next thing to test for would be a vac leak?

130psi's too low relative to the others and says you have a sticky valve, broke rings, blown headgasket or something else to lower comp. poss worth repeating that test though.

same goes for 135 on the other side and i'd presume there would be a prob with the 170.

you sure you did the test right?

on both sides it looks that the middle cyl is ok which would normally rule out interference between cylinders (headgasket or cracked head/block [not likely anyway]).

I did it late yesterday night as I managed to grab a friend to help me out with it. I just forgot to depress the throttle all the way down. Will get it done again this coming weekend and make sure I get it done properly. I'm not sure about the one giving 170psi as I've did a search for a few other members test and notice a few of them have one reading higher then usual. Though there wasnt any reason why as of yet that would be the case.

I've still need to do an oil change as I can hear a slight dinging noise that wasnt there before I did the water-by-pass.

Do a wet test too, (poor a little oil in piston) if it raises the psi, its your rings. If it doesnt, its valves related.

you HAVE to do the full throttle test before you come to any sensible conclusion, otherwise your results wont tell you shit

I take it that when doing the test wet, that it shouldnt be throwing the oil back at you from one of the other cylinders...! Driver side that was. Guess something is gonna need changing, anyone got any ideas on how much that is gonna cost!? Maybe it'll be a good time to do a rebuild I think.

pass side head gasket?
Reading the attachment that zx racer posted, it seems that the pison rings needs sorting but the driver side is throwing up some weird results along side while wet testing it was throwing the oil I put in the cylinders out at me and all over the garage!

Sure its not just the oil you already put in still blowing out?
Basically did a dry test and fine nothing blowing out of the other cylinders while testing. Then did a wet test, passenger side was fine with no oil blowing out that i just put in, while driver side was blowing oil out that I just put in from one of the other cylinders while testing for compression.

That seriously can't be right!?

Put exactually the same as every other cylinder! A cap full! So, anyone? Looking at those figures, ok?!?

A cap full? You need a couple of drops of oil not half the north sea oil reserves LOL. I'm not surprised it was throwing the oil out!

Full throttle isn't necessary when doing a compression test on the Z32 - since the balance bar must be removed for the rear coil packs then the intake is effectively open to atmosphere so no full throttle needed :)

Without sounding rude, I'd get someone who knows how to do a compression test to check your engine over before you go making any expensive assumptions... :)

also a leak down test may throw up more information, it will point out more where its going wrong
