while im driving and especially when im turning the wheels whilst standing still my car makes a humming noise (like a dry pump) im hoping it just needs the power steering fluid changing, how do i check if the level is correct and what is the correct fluid to use

if the pump is fooked howhard is it to change

or could the noise be coming from somewhere else

The p/s fluid is in the dark green pot on the left of the engine (when stood in front)

Whip the black cap off and you should see red fluid near the top.

Its Dexron automatic transmission fluid. III rings a bell too for being in the name.

Probably your level, Ive a very slight leak on mine and it begins to sound like that about every 2 mths, top it up and alls fine again

yes its deff dexron3 auto fluid as mine is an auto so i just top it up from time to time, got a very small leak on mine too, will get that sorted wen the lump is out havin the tubs done, hth :)

is there a common place for them to leak from then? my engine's out at the mo so if there's an issue i'll sort it. cheers.

checked my steering fluid (when cold) and its about 1.5 inches down, is this enough to make my power steering hum, its getting louder and more frequent (but mainly happens when ive been driving for a while)

STARTING TO WONDER IF ITS SOMETHING ELSE THAT IS MAKING THE NOISE (oops fookin caps lock)
