I'm currently in the process of finishing this off. (doesnt ever seam to have had one ) all the wiring is done just need to know the wire to connect it to. I'm planning on using the side light as a power supply, in the Pod which one is the side wire, be help full if you could say something like green wire 3rd from the right hand side of the plug car side bottom row!! lol but only if it right!!

I have read through the FAQ section anditcomeup a few times about using the brake light as a power supply, have also been read that itcan cause a check light to illuminate as a warning! dont really want to have toworry if it's a real fault or not.

Cheers

Neil, I've done this mod and run it from the side light wire in the pod, but can't remember which one it is. I've got to take my pod off tomorrow anyway so will have a look while I'm there :D

I'll try to post back tomorrow morning/lunch time before I go to work, otherwise it'll be about this time tomorrow night, if that's all right?

Ooooooppssss :wack: sorry Neil I forgot to post back yesterday!

Anyway the info isn't quite straight forward as I first thought. Firstly I remembered when I got in there that I decided to use the lamp in the cigar lighter as it was nearer and easier to get to, so I never bothered with the pod after all :D

But I've checked for you anyway and it's the Green/Red wire, or at least it should be, but there are some wiring colour changes over the years. So if this doesn't match up with your colour scheme, let me know and I'll see what i can do to help.

Check for the exact positioning first as well.

My advice is DONT!

The fog light was wired like this in my car and the excess current draw has melted the entire length of wire down to the fusebox (and god knows where else i couldnt see). I had to replace the wire. Run a good strong dedicated and fused positive from the battery to behind the centre console and then run all electrical gubbins off this.

Arrrrrrr good point.

Hmmmm Neil, are you referring to the power supply for the actual fog lamp, or for just the switching side of the relay? If it's just the switching side, then what I've put is quite adequate, if it's for actually powering the fog lamp/s then don't do what I've put, use either a dedicated supply (drivers foot well has a few spare spaces)(as Ollie as stated above) or run it, as I've done, from the cigar lighter :D unless your a smoker and are fitting two fogs, then just don't light up using the car lighter while driving in fog ;)

This an interesting one, what do you think to my plan.

I am going to turn the inner two brake lights and turn them into fogs, if I take a feed from the side lights and put it into the break light via a switch do you think that will work.

That will prob be why when ibought the car the loom was all burnt out, i ended up replacing the whole dash loom!!! prob go for the batt conection, i thoguht that the fog light switch had to illuminate when you switch on the lights for MOT purposes

Take a look through the FAQ for the Fog Lamps, it'll give you a wiring diagram.

Incidentally, although that method IS in the FAQ, it is technically illegal, by the letter of the law!! (See link within the FAQ for legal requirements)

Yes it does, as stated in the FAQ.

Depending on your switch type, this is a simple thing to do.
