I know some people on here have imported cars from Japan. I'm looking for some help as to were I need to start looking, beause little ladies TRD is a write off. 2 twisted and smapped rods, Damaged crank, 2 bores totaled and even cams damaged.

All from hitting a big puddle (well a 13" deep flash flood) Toyota UK want £7000 for a new TRD engine + VAT. So total repair bill around £9000. Hence write off. So I want to import another and don't know who to chase.

You could import a TRD unit. There used to be a company that did it....there's also a company that'll do a rebuild on any Jap engine on an exchange basis regardless of current engine condition. Will see if I can find it...

Thanks Si but if I was going to have the engine rebuilt then I'd use C&S Wood as I've Had a API so called Rebuilt engine.

It just isn't viable to rebuild the engine because the damage is so extreme you really couldn't trust the gearbox or drive shafts.

Here's the snapped rod, you can also see the rear of the piston skirt is broken off as well

Have you thought about getting the block rebored/sleaved and fitted with better omega pistons and rods and a race spec crank? You could make quite a nice bit of kit out of it if you buy the car back?

Mark, if you need an engine or car give me a shout. You know I have contacts over there! ;)
