I think I am the first to fit R34calipers to me Z.

mycalipers.jpg

This is what had to be done to fit these babys wink.gifCaliper split and alloy spaced,in order to fit 35mm discs and pads inside,Mounting holes resized and moved 5mm down to fit stock bolts straight on,these now bolt straight on the factory mounts,a nice pair of kevlar pads priced at £180 frown.gif should be with me tomorrow,so I can now refit them wink.gif.

Fuck the price of the pads, they look the bollox and with them nastey boy rotors you will be stopping faster than George Best told to stop drinking or one more will kill him!!! ROFL biggrin.gif

While some of us with stock will still have the 10 mile stopping distance of an Iraqi Oil Tanker!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

...until I get my Stillen gear on then that should shrink to about 5 miles instead! LMFAO

wot - its gonna take Mac 1 about 20 years and a zillion failed attempts to come to a halt?

I think stock brakes are pretty good, then again me other car doesnt even have cervo assist :o)

£180 squids a pair... I hope they last longer than the EBC Red Stuff kevlar ones I had mate. 2 months wear for £90.00 - Yours may turn out to be a bargain if they last 6 months!

I think i'm going to call EBC and complain, there must have been something wrong with them frown.gif

Chris the ones I have fitted now are the same make, they have been fitted for 9 months, and are just over half worn only cost £130 for a Z wink.gifAnd you lot complain of running costs eek.gifJust think what the costs are for running an R34,£180 for the same pads frown.gif.

Mac,

am I right in thinking that you have a set of half worn kevlar Z pads spare, if you have would you be interested in selling. In two minds wether to go for R33 system or just uprate the standard ones, and the pads would give me an idea of what direction to go in.

Macca,

Does the standard Zed master cylinder still give the correct ratio when used with the much larger Brembo calipers ?

Sorry Mac, I got the same calipers except they're black. not sure if R33 or R34. Been on 18 months now. Bolted straight on. Also got the skyline 315mm discs.(squeal like a pig)

The master cylinder can handle the brakes.

But i think you need a brace over the master cylinder and the only people i know that do it are SE?

Yes Andy the master cylinder can handle it,and guess what I had the brace fitted over a year ago wink.gif this is one very nice mod,OK If you want a fright, get your Mrs to sit inside your Z and pump the brake pedal very hard, your job it to simply watch how much the master cylinder flexes of the bulkhead eek.gif eek.gif eek.giffitting a master cylinder brace eliminates this.

R34 Are the same as the R33 Caliper wise.

Difference is its Gold and and has 14mm mounting holes, the R33 has 12mm.

(i do stand to be corrected but this is how i understood this to be)

So are the R34 calipers better than the R33 ones??

ASK NISSAN.

Im not exactly sure, but the ONLY calipers brembo finish in gold are funnily enough from their Brembo Goldline (i think its called that)(pukka racing equipment) and are easily equal to AP racing MOTORSPORT equipment. Other brembos, im sure are fucking ace, but theres a reason for the gold finish.

Please understand, im not saying its the gold finish itself that makes the caliper better! smile.gif wink.gif

I could be talking shit, but, the opnly cars I have seen with gold brembo calipers, are ferrari 355 challenge cars and WRC cars, as well as other motorsport cars smile.gif

Just done a little bit of research on the matter....

The ONLY difference is the mounting lug pattern - different size bolts!

As far as piston diameter etc go they are identical... Not sure they are actually the goldline calipers though - maybe just a different finish wink.gif Couod be wrong on this but there's no difference between R34 and R33 technically...

Andy

Fair enough, if you have the specs then you have the specs, what can I say? gold looks better wink.gif

no difference in the dust seals?

same piston material?

and piston sizes definately the same?

Only wondering, cos if they are the same...why would later one need bigger mounting bolts? this says to me there is more force somewhere (are the disc sizes the same on r33 r34?)

Could need bigger bolts to make bolting on bigger calipers at a later date easier i.e. for homologation purposes. thats an idea smile.gif

Just spoken to the owner of abby motorsport, whom put it in the best terms i coud imagine lol.

"The only difference between the R33 and R34 Calipers is a bucket of gold paint and a different size thread" for mounting.

This is nice news as the price then for the two should be the same for guys who want to pick them up in the future.

At least you know what to look out for.

LOL so if that is correct then why are the pads a different shape????

------------------

maxpower2.jpg

Cos they are for smaller discs biggrin.gif
