Clarkey,

I've not looked at the fan myself, so do you reckon it could be replaced with a cpu or chipset cooler ? Voltage may need to be fiddled, but I think some run on 12v.

Once they have gone tits up you will be pretty lucky to get em working again for long.

I heard they are another top rip off from Nissan to replace.

There are lots of other fans you could buy to replace it with but I think you would have to get the correct speed/air-flow characteristics to match or the temp would be out on the sensor.

nah its the wierest fan uve ever seen. It is basically a flat disc with vertical fins on. There are 2 magnets on the disc. And an electromagnet under the disc. As ChrisC says I dont think it could be easily replaced by another fan.

Anyone got any idea how much a new one costs?

Clarkey - I just did exactly that - 3 times. (OK maybe I shouldn't have started this after a lunchtime with 11 zeds in the Five Bells but I did).

Mine - which has never worked - still won't work. Got some fuzzy pics which might get posted.

But the question is for anyone who knows is how do you replace the damn thing?

Once the casing has been split (four plastic click lugs - gently push out with pushy thing) two wires go directly to the lump of plastic which i assume is the sensor and the other two go staight to the circuit board on which the fan is mounted. There does not appear to be any easy way of removing one unit and replacing it with another.

Maybe I'll settle for a not-properly-working aircon sensor.....

im talking replacing the whole unit, not just the crappy fan thing. BTW the actual temp sensor is on the bottom in the tunnel like bit. You can see the 2 legs coming off the thermistor. Im wondering if this thing actually serves any purpose though cos i cant feel ANY air being dragged over the thermistor!

Yeo Clarkey, that's what I thought too - replace the whole damn thing.

But I can't see any easy way of disconnecting it?

Yours baffled - Gio

I have access to a lot of different fans so I'll have a look into this and see what I can come up with chaps.

Gio, unscrew the unit. Pull on the cord and just behind the roof panel a connector will pop out. Can be disconnected from here. Watchg out u dont let go of the connector though cos it will retract back into the roof which is what happened to mine was a right pig to fish back out!
