I went to halfords and bought some new bosch wipers, Checked with the girl that they were for the 300zx and it came up with size 21/21s for the front. When i put them on, the drivers side overlaps by about 1.5" so it catchs it on the passenger wiper on the way up.

Does anyone know what size i need and as mines a jap import does that make any difference? Its a G/1990 model.

Same as above again with bulbs, bought the recomended "super brilliance" bulbs size 448sb which is what is says in the book are for the 300zx but when i removed the bulb from the car its a single pin bulb and these new ones are double pin.

Going to pop back up there to refund them but if anyone knows which one`s i need then ill just change them over.

Cheers

If it's an import the bulbs will be different & will need modifying.

The ones i have are 21" and they dont fit at all, The drivers side one when in the down position sits lower then the passenger one but as soon as you turn on the wipers it catches on the passenger blade as it goes up slightly quicker. The blades on the car are id say about 19" to 20" but these 21" ones are the only one they had listed for a zed.

Do you know how id go about doing that or have a link please?

Thats sounds to me like the actual arms aren't parallel on the actual splines.

changed my blades last wk and they are 21,s,as 4 bulbs they are h3g,had same prob, ordered some off fleabay, but were 4 the uk zed,put h3g on google search, got both mine 4 £8,and they were supa white ones, hope this helps bud, nice zed by the way, think u picked the best time to buy one, prices are right down on zeds at mo,

oooops, didnt read the single pin bit as h3g is a double pin, :wack: , :x: :)

Yo!

I changed the wipers not long after getting the car. Just took the old ones off and walked into the shop to compare. I bought the same size as the ones that came off as I knew one was bigger than the other but the book said they were 2 of the same (which had to be wrong as the parking space in the scuttle allows for one longer blade than the other IIRC). I'm pretty sure I did the same with the bulbs.... I've learnt not to trust those books.

Hi dave,

Sorry mate but didnt want to keep bothering you everytime i needed something as you`ve helped me more then enough :)

Ill pop back in there with the arms off then and match them up by eye. They smeared a bit on the way home and thought that i might aswell stick a new pair in so i dont have to worry again untill the summer.

Off the top of your head do you remember which car the bulbs in there belong to as then i can just go and buy the same bulb but in the super brilliance white? No problem if not as i do the same as the wipers and just match them up by eye again.

By the way, whats the button in the glove compartment for? Is that the alarm reset button as i cant work out even with reading the booklet how to change the turbo timer.

No probs bud. IIRC the difference from the Jap and UK bulbs in the earth. On a jap car the connector has a + and - connector (2 prongs on the bulb) which is picture 1. On a UK car, the bulb is eathed by the headlight housing itself so you can use normal H3 bulbs (single connector wire which is +).

All you have to do is run the - wire from the connector (picture 1) and connect it to the headlamp unit which is easily done by undoing the small screw that secures the bulb holder (wire cage bit) and either using a small eyelet (crimped) or wrap the waire around the screw (under the cage bit) and re-tighten. That will provide a normal H3 bulb and earth.

How's that? :) If you don't get it, PM me and I'll send you my mobile number ene iof you're a gooner! lol :)

I made the mistake of going to halfords for import bulbs after the sales guy looked at the import bulb blankly he told me main dealer only which stupidly i went to £25 each brought one which seeded alot brighter than the old one so i brought another £50 for 2 bulbs .I know there cheper on ebay and you can convert to uk spec but i couldnt be bothered to convert .I wont be buying from nissan again robbing *******s.

From memory I have a 22 inch wiper on the drivers side (NOT a spoiler blade as the arm has a large spoiler type thing already attached) and an 18 (or 19?) inch on the passenger side.

The reason yours are overlapping is because you need a smaller one on the passenger side.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Cheers everyone for the replys, I went back up to halfords and have swapped the blades for 2 x 19" which seems to be good enough as thats what was on her so like for like but a hell of a lot clearer.

The bulbs are something else though :headvswal They dont have a clue what bulb it is or have anything like it in stock, I was also told try the main stealership which ill think ill pass on. I took the one out of the headlamp and showed this girl what it looked like and then took it in with me but the rim which sits between the bulb and prongs on the one from the car is pretty small in diameter and all the "super brilliance" ones have a huge rim meaning that it will sit about an inch back inside the engine bay and cant be held in place by that little wire clip so im going to have to find a bulb specialists or do the uk conversion thingy that Vijay kindly told me about. Im guessing my next post will be a wanted one for 2 new headlights after breaking them

One good thing to come out of all of it though was the girl serving came out to double check the blades fitted before exchanging them and while she was there i showed her the headlamp fitting and explained what i meant by the rim being too big and as soon as she saw the engine she asked if it was ok to take a picture of it and started swooning over the ZED. What a great feeling.

You need H3C bulbs - give me a call on 07044016586, I've got these in stock. Direct replacement for the stock bulbs and only £15/pair.

Are these the super white bulbs? The ones im after are the white ones without any blueness to them, Ive had the blue tinted ones before and cant stand them, Im after the ones that are as close as you can get to zenons without having the HID kit.

If they are the white ones then ill grab a pair please.

Cheers mate,

Do you know if they show off any blueness to them? I had some before on an old car and even though they were meant to be super white they still had that baby blue effect on them.

i just replaced both my wipers with 21inch bosch blades from halfords no problems at all. Welcome to the help and advise forum, and welcome to zed ownership   see you back here soon (no offence Dave, bit of banter :) )

All of a suddern I've gone totaly blank on the bulb thing... :(

I can't say 100% if i changed the headlamp bulbs on this car or one of my previous Zeds - That could be the case as my previous Zed was a UK so i wouldnt have had this problem :wack:

As for the button in the glovebox.... That fires the M3 seeking missiles hidden behind the fog lamps

You have email :)

These are very white bulbs but do have a blue "fringe" tint (if that makes sense). Incidentally, these are the same bulbs as Autobulbs Direct sell (only cheaper ;)) They are rated at 4500K so not quite as white as a 6000K HID kit (but pretty close).

Whilst out in the garage having a fag I think ive sussed the wiper problem.

The blades should both be 21 inch, not handed.

But the Arms ARE handed, someone has probably had the arms off for painting as they go abit weathered, then put them back on the wrong sides.

Try putting the 21 inch blades on and swapping the arms over, should be problem solved
