about the limit of my knowledge of the manual boxes is that Redline MT90 oil is supposed to make dodgy boxes better. Worth a try i guess.

Yup, get some MT90 in there. Should sort things out. Has done on two of my boxes. Takes a few miles to work some people say, but I seemed to notice the effect straight away.

4 bottles is required.

redline is not a cure, its a thick heavy oil which will only work in the short time, its called masking a problem, your transmission needs rebuilding, most probably input bearings :(

also check your 2 gators under the gearstick, if there split which most of them are, you will get tunnel noises from the road entering the cabin, and sounds like whining :)

cheers greg

It is a cure that can last a very long time, it all depends how bad the box is, but if it is a start of the problem we still have 300's that are happy with it in, that displayed the symptoms years ago!

LOL check the ruber gaitor under the centre console. This often comes lose and you just hear the transmission noise - thats all....
