Hi all

Is it possible to have a Z that is tuned/chipped but still have the 112 mph limiter as mine seems quicker than a couple of others i have driven, but still limited, only mods i know of is a HKS Super drager and a HKS air filter! ?

its possible the others you have driven could of been in safety boost, quite a lot are running around in safety boost, some dont even know they are. To be honest it would be a waste of time having a car tuned and chipped and keeping the limiter, defeats the object of having it chipped and boost raised. Are you sure your car has been chipped, or are you surmising because your car seems faster?

No the others wernt in safety boost, im not the only one to think its a bit quick for standard, as you say, seems a bit odd to be tuned but still limited, less the owner didnt want to go into hyper speed.....lol

If someone only cares about torque and acceleration but has no intention of going over 112 they may well leave the limiter in place.

I'm sure someone will rush to tell me if I'm wrong but I don't think anyone writing an new ECU chip would retain the limiter string in the program unless they didn't have a clue what they where doing and if it's that case I'd be more worried the motors getting enough fuel when needed !!

You'll almost definatly have a standard ECU but does'nt stop somebody sticking in a pair of boost jets. Get yourself a Boost gauge.

Although the others dont need to be in safety mode to affect performance (and was this checked with an ECU error code test and boost gauge? - as most owners have no idea there car has always been in safety mode!).....incorrect fuelling from faulty o2 sensors, fuel pressure regulators, incorrect timing...etc are all common and affect performance.

Highly unlikely it's chipped but still limited!

After 16-odd years you'll have a spread of fundamentally good examples of the car and bad. Law of averages says most will be bad to an extent. So you might have hit what's essentially a good example in the first place and with filter and zorst goes like a rocket.

stellaZ is a good example- he got 340 FWHP / 261 RWHP with basic mods (decat and filter I think).

I've been told by quite a few members that when was standard with same mods as Stella's that mine was real fast for a stocker. Must be a UK thing.
