December 23, 200618 yr Author Are you speakers the powered Bose ones? Yeah they are, I've just took out the radio casette player. Using your diagram had a look and some of it matches it up i.e the power wires. I have 2 extra wires though and no sound through any of the speakers using the halford iso connector?? any ideas? cheers
December 23, 200618 yr OK, I take it you're trying to install a non-Bose head unit then? Well as the Bose speakers are powered, you can't just add a new head unit, as they are setup for normal speakers and not individually powered ones. As far as I'm aware you'll need new speakers as well!

Do you know if its possible to resplice the cars loom into an ISO connector or did you mean that the new HU isnt meant for powered speakers (I understand the wiring just not how the speakers and amps work). If its the latter is there anywhere i could get hold of a BOSE CD player that would work Cheers
December 23, 200618 yr Yeah, you've got to re-wire the speakers with new speaker wire! The new head unit isnt for powered speakers. In the Bose system the individual units amplify the sound, in a normal head unit it's amped within the head unit. (Excluding pre-amp out points) As for obatining a Bose CD , sorry I cant help you on that one, never seen one. But I have got a spare Nissan CD player that hooks up to a Nissan radio tape head unit via a round five pin (I think) din plug! Don't know if it's the same fitment on the back of your old head unit?

Theres a round connection on the back of the Bose cassette deck, looks like an oversize s-video connection - that sound about right? I'll be dammed if i'm going to listen to Radio 2 on a permenant basis, would you be willing to sell it? If your at the next midlands meet i could get it then Least i know where i stand with it now cheers thats been helpful
