Christ those look like some hefty f*ckers!! biggrin.gif

What size are they Warren (dia & thickness)? 330mm?

Trev (who currently has front discs with the same thickness of paper plates!)

Very nice!!!

Warren, where did Andrew Ingram's discs come from? 3g? Cos mine are a bit odd.

If it was 3G what was wrong with them?

I think mine are warped, and/or have high spots between the grooves. Deffo something fooked about them.

Jezz.

No these i got from SOUTH AFRICA, Through my father.

They are 328 mm x around 32mm

they are beasties alright. The slots are non directional and the holes are made during the manufacture of the disc.

So they are shamphered ect.

Warren mate, where did Andy Ingram get his discs from?

What was wrong with them?

Jezz.

And here are the rears.

Rather dull in comparison to the fronts.

Jezz mate, I replied to your mail.

Call that a disc! Cant wait till billing wink.gif

Holy shit- those things are huge!

Will they fit behind stock rims?

How much wonga Wozza?

Dave

Dave, for the fronts you'll need R33 calipers. I think Warren can help you out with getting some.

Cheers,

Andy

Seriously nice mate, they're bigger than the wheels on most cars smile.gif

How much????

Can you really fit these with stock calipers Ian?? What about the width, I thought skyline calipers were slightly wider? Or do you mean that you can get spacers like you are getting (or got?) on your calipers?

Dave, either way, I'd recommend the Skyline calipers, the extra clamping force is worth it.

These discs are bigger than a Skyline, that is the stock caliper you see, Paulg has the very same set up.

Okay, stupid question...

Surely the improvement in braking is due to a larger surface area of friction material being in contact with the working surface i.e. the disk.

So, why is a larger disk with standard Z32 caliper and pads any better than a standard sized set up using uprated (grooved/drilled) disks and pads (reds/greens)?

Yes and No the further out from the centre of the hub you are clamping the easier it is to stop. Like a lever in reverse. But yes bigger pads is undoubtedly gonna help out.

If you want, email ill see what i can do regarding price.

They wont fit under stock wheels Dave, at least i dont think they will.

They are 328mm in size.

Warren

With these mega discs do you get to a point where the mass starts to cause unsprung weight and handling issues? I thought the stock 30mm thick discs were heavy but these 328mm and bigger types must be well seriously heavy?

Willie

Valid point with the unsprung weight and stuff, but would you sooner have a few kg less of unsprung weight or being able to stop like you never thought possible? I think id sooner have the braking and arguably that has the possibility to scare more people too! hehehe.

Not being funny but brakes are usually the best upgrade that can be done to a car...and they look fooking cool! (or is it me just being boring and wanting to stop better?)

Yeah very good point, and that is why i used the logic that if Nissan are putting them on the Skyline, which weighs the same as our cars, then it has to be within spec?

This is by far the single best mod i have yet done to my car, i love the feel and confidence it gives a person.

Regarding weight they are less than 20 kilos combined, not alot more than stock id imagine and i think that it is far worse to go put wide arch kits on or huge sound in your car weight wise.
