I waved and a nod was returned. So managed to scribble on a bit of paper 'Glad you're better!!' in large writing......managed to get along side and stuck it to the window on the passenger side. A pap of the horn and a wave and a flash of the headlights from him and some grinning from me.

 

He'd pulled on at the Chippenham turning and was heading towards London for Top Gear filming I guess.

awesome! glad to see the young tyke is driving again!!! i wouldnt have thought he'd have recovered so quickly to be driving.

Yeah, he still has that cheeky look about him even after his bad accident.

Am I the only person who thinks that the hamster is just another person who has had a crash. You`d think he is the only person ever to have been injured in a car. He`s ONLY a tv presenter!! Lets get things in perspective. Don`t get me wrong, it must have been very scary for his family and friends but I think this country has a need to hero worship people.

 

I`m not trying to be nasty or anything here, but I just don`t get the hysteria that surrounded his crash, and his recovery.

 

Just my thoughts............and by the sounds of it, ONLY my thoughts.

i agree to a point in which, if it was your uncle reggie for instance no one would give a toss, however media etc means anyone famous will have the world at there feet. Wrong yes! do i care NO. I like the guy and glad he made a full recovery :dance:

i dont think its the fact he's a celebrity that counts, its the fact that everyone that watches top gear has grown to like him for his personality and sense of humour, etc. just because he's not a friend or relative it doesnt mean you dont know him from adam.

The Car show is only Top Gear...

He is only a Top Gear presenter who is also a dead funny dude and loves cars...

He also had an accident doing something he loved (sort of)...

And we're only all talking on a forum about cars...

Well I watched the Jonathan Ross last night and his discription of his head injury was exactly the same as mine when I was involved in a head on at 17.. I wasn't going as fast as him but I wasn't wearing a crash helmet. The engine of my car came through the bulkhead and the stearing column nearly took my head right off.. Luckly all the damage was at my side of the car and my GF at the time walked out of it "Well after the fire boys cut tha roof off" It's been nearly 20 years now and I'm still not fully over it !! I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy..

no he isnt the first at all tohave a crash but he has highlighted just how dangerous such extreme sports can be and the media has used him as an example and thats because he is a celebrity and they make money out of it at the same time.
