Oil pressure sender unit (orig)

Stripped mine down yesterday as it wasnt working properly.

Found a problem with the wipers and track. Guess after 15 years of rubbing they are going to be worn. Anyway, pushed them in a bit for better contact and tested on a test rig and all seems to be ok now!!

Saves buying an aftermarket gauge or new sender unit (orig)

Buy, that costs money. Think they are £60 or £80.

Its not really a servicable unit, but is possible.

Its located (looking from front of car) on the right hand side on the bottom of the engine on the oil feed line to the turbo. a black boot on it with a plug, or wires in my case as the plugs bust.

You can prize the lip open on the top of it, unsolder the two wires on the back (remember which way they go) and pull it out. You can see the wiper and track and in my case that had worn a bit. Removed the track and bent them in a bit so it contacts better.

Then I rigged it up to an air system with gauge. Applied set pressures and measured the ohms on it and made sure it fell in tolerance with the manual. Which mine now did.

Bargain... Another dodgy deal from trotter!
