Last night was digging around the side of the drivers seat to find a bonanza of coins (my zed eating my money in more than just petrol). I wound the seat right back to aid my rumaging and now it doesnt go forward again. It can move back and forward about 1 cm at best. I have seen the below thread about coins on the track and have done my best to clear anything off and also used a vacuum to suck anything off it.

Is it possible i have pushed the seat too far back and it is off its runners or will it most likely be something still on the track?

On the thread below it mentions about 4 bolts to remove the seat. I can give this a go to further check for coins because there is not much rumaging room as it is but where and what size are the bolts mentioned and is it difficult to refit it and line it up etc.

Help much appreciated because I cant reach the bottom of the clutch pedal at the moment!!!

The whole seat comes out, it doesnt leave tracks to line up or anything. Just 4 bolts and lift it out, its fooking heavy and easier if you can move the seat forwards and back to get access to the bolts easier, but you cant.

From memory its 14mm bolt heads.

If you get stuck and need a new drivers seat, I have a spare in full working order and in good condition.

I'm only down the road in Ascot (M4/M3)

PM me if you need it.

i am really hoping it wont come to a new seat particulary because mine is leather in very good condition. can anyone confirm whether it is a 14mm bolt that attaches the the seat to the floor as i dont have my socket set with me so am going to buy and individual spanner to do it.

I had a problem like this after getting a stereo fitted. A really good search under there with a torch showed they'd dropped a screw into one of the tracks.

I know you've already checked this but I only found the screw on about the third check.

having just replaced the seat in mine it is definitely a 14mm spanner that you need.. a socket would be easier tho especially as you cant move the seat to get at the back ones

all fixed now! There was a screw caught in the door side tracks. It is a 14mm spanner and i did have a bit of trouble getting to the rear bolts but that was mainly down to the bolts having plastic covers over them which took me a while to figure out!

If the switch gets burned contacts this happens. On mine it was the backrest reclining fine but not rising up again. You have to burst it open to emery up the contacts on the little joystick switch.

Not too hard a job if you know what you are doing.

Glad it's all fixed just putmine back in, with no batt and it's a complete bugger to do passanger side is easy as you can move it manually but the drivers side was a pain, had to use a ring spanner. but all done none the less.

have fitted a nice new aftermarket recliner in mine adapted to fit the original electrics so it still goes back and forward on the same button ;)
