Hi all,am i missing something?Trying to change the sensor on my uk manual, managed to unbolt it and remove to a point but the damn thing hasn`t got enough clearance to pull free,is it a case of havin to drop the box a bit to give enough room or givin the surrounding body work a tap to create a contoured area or do i just use the force!?

Can't say for sure m8 but I think I removed mine with everything intact? Mines a 93 UK TT Manual, don't go mad with force though as the end may snap off.

My worry exactly, don`t want to start wrestling and have the wheel snap off,it does only appear to come out two thirds ish of the way though with not enough angle to manouver past the car body, i can`t seem to find an angle that will work without undue force and then of course i would still have to fit the new one in anyway, very frustrating as one of my last jobs to do on it,may have to concede and pay somebody unless i`m lucky. Thanks for your input, much appreciated

it should come out no problem, have you tried applying a big bar to the side of the box to give yourself some room?

failing that you could drop the 6 x 14mm bolts that hold the gearbox cross member, this will then drop the box and inch or 2

however you will need to support the gearbox when doing this, and you will need a jack to get the box back in to its lined up position

iv never had a problem taking out a speed sensor, although fiddly, even more so on an auto, it shouldnt be a problem.

Ooh..no, haven`t tried the bar,on axle stands at mo you see,was feeling bit wary as first time under a car on stands, will add some extra failsafes and give that a go,wasn`t aware it would budge. What fun! :) Thanks!
