toyo proxes R888's

thinking of getting them for each corner.

i know they are fairly soft compound so wont last long but i wont be doing that many miles this yr.

the blurb says they are more than capable in the wet too.

what you think??

Personally I think you are making a huge mistake.

the Toyo 888 is a road legal track day tyre which is legal to use on the road but is not reccomended even by Toyo.

Quote from Toyo..... " Caution. Carefull attention is required on wet conditions due to limited aquaplaning capabilities. As this tyre is produced with special design and compounds for competitions, NO WARRANTY IS IMPLIED." my capitals.

This tyre only has 5mm of tread when new.

My Kuhmo V70s track tyres are similar.

They are lethal in any sort of wet conditions. Im limited to 60mph in the wet on these, and thats with them on the REAR.

DO NOT fit these to the front of any road car.

my opinionis that they will be downright dangerous when its wet.

Ask Madhamster, he has seen me loose it sideways on my similar Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials at 40mph. And that too is on the rear.

Only fit to the front for serious track use.

All of course IMHO.

Maybe you should call me and I will try and convince you not to go down this route.I have spent huge amounts of time researching and using this type of tyre on my way to becoming ZClub Drag Challenge Champion

the toyo website says they are perform well in wet...lets hope that n the rare occasion they get wet they grip!

praying this isnt a told you so thread later on! :( :x:

My son works at STS. He says they are great tyres but you have to sign a disclaimer to say you won't use them in the wet.

Says it all I think.

All well and good having them but don't relie on the british weather.
