I'm now the proud owner of a Black 300ZX TT manual jap import picked it up last night, feels bloody quick compared to my V6 old Mondeo!!!

 

Got a few questions. At low revs around 1500rpm a bit of resonance comes from somewhere in the engine bay anyone had this?

 

Are the bulbs easy to get hold of as my off-side dip beam has already blown, if so where from? I haven't had a chance to remove it yet so am being lazy and asking here first!!!

 

What should the oil pressure gauge read before really spinning the turbos? How does the +7 to -7 gauge work beneath the speedo?

 

Probably silly questions but though I'ld ask them.

The lights are a tight fit to get to. You can get them for £3 or so at Halfords.

 

The turbo guage under the speed is how much your turbo is blowing into your engine, making it go faster. At negative values the turbo is not making any difference. The higher the vaule the more BOOST is being made by the Turbo.

 

The Oil pressure should be at 30psi @ 3000rpm I think it is. But the stock oil gauge is very bad, the turbo one isnt very accurate either.

Sounds like you have an import. That makes the bulb situation a bit more complicated.

 

You either need to buy jap. spec bulbs - expensive.

 

Or you need to modify the bulbs or the headlights with an extra earth cable so you can use UK spec bulbs - cheap.

 

A search should find details of how to do the modification.

 

Resonance from the engine bay - that doesn't sound good - the only thing that should resonate the the Exhuast !

 

Can be be more descirptive - is it only RPM base (i.e does it happen on nuetral ?)

 

The boost guages measures pressure in the plenum ! when both turbos are at full operating capacity you should get 7psi in there on a stock car !

 

Yeah Jap headlights are a PITA - there is a modification Tech on this site somewhere - click the menu in the corner - Or you can buy them from places like the Z center !
