Dyno Run

Ran my car on the Rolling Road Yesterday, Got 235 BHP at the wheels at 9PSI so if we take account of approx 60 to 80 bhp transmission losses its about circa 300-315 bhp at the flywheel which I'm quite pleased about as this tallys up with my 14.1 for the quarter mile. Thats with my silly bleed valves open fully, I closed them to see what psi I got, it gave 5psi which was 200 bhp at the wheels, looks like I'm going to have to invest in a proper boost controller!

Thank god I installed a proper boost gauge, as the stock boost gauge indicates 12psi when its really 9 psi! so loads more power to come.

My mates modified Supra ran his on the rollers, the rolling road is rated at 300 at the wheels, his went off the scale!! but the rolling road does show up problems with your engine, after his run he got home and his front crankcase oil seal had blown, leaving an oil slick on his drive, well its just given Gavin the excuse to have his uprated cams fitted sooner which will give him 500 bhp!!! When we ran on the dyno day, the guestiamte for manual cars on transmission loss was between 12-15% according to the company.

Now you can compare yours to the dyno day in jap performance magazine?

Saw you yesterday outside Sutton train station with your tops of lol

Yeah I had to take the tops off, what a nice day!

I think my forehead went a bit Brown! lol

yeah I compared it with the ones in the magazine, I think the standard Zeds ran from 212BHP to 254BHP at the wheels with Standard boost, whats the standard boost setting out of the factory??

Whats the best place to get a Blitz boost controller cheap cheap anyone?

Is your car nearly finished Wazza? I need someone to race, bored with killing all the RS Escort turbos in Sutton!! smile.gif

Cool see you at the pod then, 26th May? wink.gif

Yeah we had a chat with Enzo (? correct me if wrong Waz) from RARE he seemed to think, as Warren said, about 15% was the max loss and usually between 8-15%.

Inperpro have some way of calculating the losses, mine came out at 15% there, everyone was quite sceptical of there RR calibration though.

But at the end of the day wheels bhp is really the only one that matters!

Try jrpidgeon on the 200sx board, he can get you boosty controlers el cheapo, new or used.

Jezz.

What bhp at the wheels did you get Jezz?

Got his email Jezz for Jrpidgeon ?

Yep defo for 26th May!

How-do, smile.gif

At the RARE 300zx day I got 218 @ wheels with 13.5psi but a few things have changed since then (bit more boost, new better chip, advanced the timing 5 deg) so I'm guessing around the same as you now. Advantage being S13 weighs 400Kg less.

I did post before reading you'd done a 14.1 sec pod run though, best 1/4 I done is 14.49 but I'm sure it'll come with practice.

Better bloody do!! smile.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Jason's email is-

Jezz.

Thanks for that Jezz!

So we have a bit of a challenge then!!!

You and me on the strip best of 5 runs to give you a bit of a chance lol. tongue.gif
