I got in my car today to find water on the passenger seat. It looks as though rain is getting in from the top of the passenger window. I reckon the seals will need to be changed, but I'm sure I saw something on a web site, where you could give the old seals a new lease of life. Does anyone know anything about this?

Cheers

I use Autoglym vinyl bumper stuff it makes the rubber resilient again and solved the problem on mine. You do need to take out yer T top to do it best as you need to treat the joints. You can buy it in halfords.

Also check to make sure the gasket is correctly seated as this made mine leak the one time.

vijay,

I've got the same problem. I'm pretty sure it's coming through the t-top seal towards the window and not the top of the wind ow itself. I've use a pice of bike inner tube sandwiched between the seals in the shrt term and it seems to have done the trick.

I guess the rubber loses it properties after a while.

Nexus. thanks for the tip I'll try over the weekend, as yet more bl#@dy rain is promised .....

Vijay,

I think your describing a similar problem i had on mine. Mine wasn't a problem with the rubbers it may not be on yours either, check this out first.

When you take the T tops of you'll notice a small drain hole on the sill that the top sits on. These are designed to drain water from the top so that it does not accumulate on the sills and leak into the car. When these get blocked with dirt they fill up and the only place for the water to go is to leak onto your seat (gravity makes sure of this, regardless of how good the seal is)

The first thing to check for is:

1. The hole drains to a pipe that is located near the door hinges, with the door open check that the drain exit pipe is not facing upwards or is not twisted. Mine was facing upwards and therefore the water had no place to go.

Pour some water into the drainage hole on the roof it should now flow freely through it.

2. If that doesn't work use a long flexible wire and prode it all the way down the drain hole so as to clear it.

Hope this solves the problems.

Vijay,

I just found this site which does rubbers for various models including the 300ZX.

I found a new leak today, so I may need to contact them too. They are UK based, but I have had no experience with them, if you want to give them a try check their site out.
