Is that the usual selfish thoughts of most smokers is it?

;)

Seems about right.Get a life FFS.It appears after reading through your many posts and adverse comments that the only way is the FunkySi way and fook anybody elses way of living or car modding.

Get a life? Hold on, I'm not the one getting all irate. You're the person who's getting upity about it. Personally, I couldn't care what you do. Just nice that I'm going to be able to breath nice clean air when I go out. :)

Ban it

fook anybody elses way of living

That's exactly what you're saying to the vast majority of the population by smoking wherever you like!

FFS, stop being so old fasioned.

Pubs are not for drinking and smoking, please get out the the 70s and 80s and get into THIS century.

Pubs are for drinking and fighting/killing people. Much better on the health ;)

Yeah, but i want a cig after kicking the f*ck out of someone following my beer, much more satisfying! :D

Ex-smoker on the case here! So the obvious answer coming up - BAN IT (in all obvious public places at least)

Smoking is a personal choice - so at home, (as long as there's no kids etc in the house) then do what you want AFAIC.

As for smoking in some pubs and not others then that's a tricky issue.

For starters, what about the staff in the smoking pubs? How would they advertise for staff? :

"Wanted: Member of bar staff - must be a smoker, and be happy to suffer the second hand smoke of all those grotty cigars, pipes dodgy fags and tea leaves that people decide to smoke" . ?

Restaurants with their "smoking half" is very rarely effective. I've been to very few restaurants where the ventilation has been sufficiently adquate that the non-smoking half does not smell of smoke!

Why did I give smoking? Cost for starters, but also I began to resent myself everytime I lit up! So for the last few months, would find myself stubbing-out half way through. Also, joining a gym really helped! I found myself willing to work hard to try and get the lungs back into shape!

Anyway, I support the ban, but only in public places. Private members bars etc should be able to elect whether or not they're smoking, etc.

Si.

hmmmmm so much love in the room!

Some rather strong opinions here

If the smokers want to kill themselves early, fine by me, but don't do it at my or my kids expense! If you light up in a confined space with me around without a 'by-your-leave' then I'll politely ask you to put it out, if you refuse, then I'll put YOU out!!

It's your choice to smoke, and my choice to breath clean air.

The revenue earned from smokers is a hell of a lot, I'll fully agree, but look at it this way, if they stopped having to spend of (national)health care for smoking related diseases and all the anti-smoking related advertising, then it would probably balance out. After all, don't forget that even if they managed to ban smoking 100% tomorrow(which I'm not saying that they should), the effects would still be with us for a hell of a long time yet!

Having a go at other members on here wont stop the ban, signing a petition wont stop the ban.... NOTHING WILL!! Face facts, it's coming whether you like it or not!

And pubs will still be as full as ever, clubs will be as full as ever and so will anywhere else that the ban is designed for! It's worked everywhere that another country has already imposed it, and people have worked around it and got on with their lives, as will people in England.

Oh yeah, it means that I'll be able to go home form the pub and not have all my clothes stink of fag smoke anymore..... they'll still stink of the smell of various types of alcohol though :D

i smoke, admitadly not proud of it BUT its my choice, i have 2 children, i go in the garden what ever the weather and smoke. not around them!!! to ban smoking in certain places wouldn't bother me, ie restaurants etc i dont smoke in these places anyhow i go OUTSIDE i think it should be down to the pub/club to wether they permit smoking or not, its then the decision of the smoker/non smoker to wether they enter :)

all IMO

well it is when guys get totally pi55ed and want to start fights, annoy women and most other implications to violent behaviour

well next time i see a smoker im going to pull out a toxic can of gas, it will smell like dog shite and im going to spray it on their clothes and up their noses see how they like it

im allfor designated smoking area's, dont ban it in pubs all together just let them smoke somewhere away from me, then if i want to stand next them and get a lung full it will be upto me

i love getting pissed but im not allowed to walk down the street drinking a can, so i do it in designated areas (see what im getting at)

That's kind of why it's getting a complete ban in public places really.

A lot of smokers don't give a shit about anyone else and making reserved areas for them is a waste of time when they have attitudes like that :slap:

peace man :D

Go sit on a fag! (either kind, I don't care)

chris that wont bother me bud as i dont smoke in public places as stated above, but its the idea that iff i smoke in the street its going to take 5 years off your life ffs :headvswal :headvswal

well said chrisc. I THINK ITS ABOUT 90% 4 THE BAN so what does that say.it seems the non smokers care about other peoples health and the SMOKERS say fook everyone else as long as im happy. its this selfish attitude thats ruining this country. all people are saying is they understand SMOKERS need to smoke, stink of shit and make themselves unattractive and slowly kill themselves and thats upto them, just dont be selfish about it. do it in a smokers area. maybe i should start shitting on peoples faces and saying sorry its an addiction, fook you. oh and FUNKI SI"S WAYS ARE NORMALLY RIGHT.

Have you noticed how all the smokers are becoming a bit 'Twitchy'??? ;)

Fook sake, what will they be like when the ban is inplace??

Could even be as bad as if all the women in the Uk were on 'Blob Week' at the same time!!!!! :x: :mac1: :slap:

That's actually incorrect.

It's actually not :slap: If you'd done some simple research you'd find that it was pretty much what the top Govt.-appointed scientist, Prof. Richard Doll, said in his report that the Govt. commissioned but which they subsequently chose to ignore.

Another thing that is even worse for your health is breathing in fumes from a BBQ. So we'll ban BBQs too, shall we?

Oh, and most of the longest lived people on record have been heavy smokers at some point in their lives.

BTW, why are most anti-smokers so keen to believe what the Govt. has to say, given their track record (WMD, anyone?)

All the Govt. is doing is using scare tactics to brainwash the feeble-minded so that they can reap the zeitgeist and win more votes. Anybody sane individual who does any decent amount of research into the subject will find overwhelming evidence that the effects of "passive smoking" are minimal.
