Hey guys, was told on friday that the API premier engine that was got for my car is finally fitted.. only thing is, they say there is a ticking noise in the engine and they want to sort it before giving the car back, they never specified where the noise was coming from but as the head, block and internals are all replacements with only the ancilliaries coming from my old engine would anyone be able to hazzard a guess?? Thanks, Richie

could be a few things - can they be more specific, eg. top or bottom of engine, left or right side, disappears after warm up, only in certain rev range, front or back of engine. sometimes difficult to pinpoint i know but it helps to eliminate some of the problems. also is it a nasty metal vs metal noise, or a 'loose' rattling noise?

When I did an engine swap on mine I got a real scary ticking tapping noise. Thought I'd done something majorly wrong.

It just needed time for all the oil to circulate properly. Possibly because I'd used an engine flush in the engine before I drained it, and it sat for a wee while before I did the swap.

I also have a trust oil cooler, and had to add more oil once it was warmed up.
