should i be able to here my fuel pump when my car is running its a uk 93 tt because its quite noisy and no other cars ive had did it

I can hear it start up on the key but not when it's running.

Sounds like it's worn out or something.

If its an after market high flow pump some are noisey from new.If its a standard one it need changing.

if you are thinking of modding in the future take the chance to put in a uprated one now and save in the future.

The standard fuel pump is good for about 600bhp anyway so why would you need to upgrade it now?!

Also, a blocked filter can make them noisy.

wheres the filter sorry only got the car tuesday and problems already

Filter sits in front of the battery. Round silver about half size of a Coke can.

You may find that somebody has bypassed the fuel ECU controller (becuase its failed), which will cause the pump to run at full speed permantly, hence the noise.

 

Remove the Rear seat, and the rear trim on passenger side and you should see a couple of electronic boxes. If you see any extra wiring that looks non standard then thats whats happened.

 

If it does turn out to just be the pump on its way out then I have a couple spare. £50 each.

Absolutely! I don't think there are ANY Zs in the uk that would require an uprated fuel pump! To get over the limit of the stock pump you would more than likely need to be running race gas in order to achieve the power levels in the first place....
