Get yourself an import, i think they are more powerful and you really should get the real thing. some ppl may say no cause hasle with insurance but it you spend a little time you'll find somone who's more than happy to insure you.... I'm 22 with 4yrs ncb but 6points and i'm insured with tescos for 1380 quidish + my girlfriend is only 21 and also covered both fully comp......Do it.........Oh my one happens to now be up for sale..(see the for sale fourm and see a clean 300zx 4 sale) (or somthing like that.)

Do a search. biggrin.gif Theres loads of different Gezzmose,c.d players, leather, cruse, elec seats, elec mirrors, heated seats smile.gifThe main thing is to get the one that your happy with and go and see atleast 10,so you can get a feel of what you looking for in a £35.000 super car.Drive every one you go and see, even if it looks shit when you get there.

G - M reg £4000.00 - £10000.00 standard spec,no mods.

Good hunting Ken smile.gif

P.S Late L's & M's are 280 bh Standard uk

G's are prone to valve probs.

Only uk has leather.

Jap is more insurance.

Not realy any diff on power all F***ing fast biggrin.gif biggrin.gif.Guaranted to put a smile on your face. smile.gif

My import the first 1 had leather throuhout...?, may be a good idea to get a standard 1 so you know where you are.....good luck m8 (mines still 4 sale lol)

There are no power differences between jap and Uk spec twin turbos. However in Japan they also did non-turbo and short wheel base versions. Only TTs were ever sold new in UK. So beware. Personally i'd look for a UK car just cos its less hassle with Insurance and bulbs and stuff, but a jap is fine (I've got one) and a jap is likely to be in better nick than an equivalent Uk one. Do a search on the forum there's lots on this topic.

Bottom line is make sure you get a good un - there's a few dogs around.

And get an AA inspection on the one you are looking at buying, at least you got a bit of a guarantee if something goes tits up...

Who the hell told you that??? In theory an import will actually have less power on the same fuel, as it is tuned to the higher octane rated jap fuel!!! wink.gif I'm ready to be corrected.......

IMHO a UK spec car is a far better buy! For example there have been a few stories recently of main dealers wanting to charge a £25 fee for part searches on imports... Little things like this make me glad I have a UK car plus the good ole insurance....

LOL another great debate.

UK cars are probably a better bet, but more than likely have more milage on them, Just easier to live with id guess regarding insurence, service through Nissan blah blah,

Jap import, well sometimes you might luck onto a very good one in which case it is better, but their is a far greater chance of getting one that is a balls up.

I own a jap import, but then i wasent looking at if it was UK or import ect, i never even knew about that lol.

No problems with bulbs for Jap Import.

Everything can be got for either a UK or JAP as most people purchase stuff from the states to save loads of cash on RIP off UK prices.

I have a 1994 and about to sell it.

Insurance with TESCO seems to be the cheapest at the moment.

Yeah, but if you buy an import that's already been in this country for a while then that should have all been done. I have speedo and odometer in miles and no speed limiter so when all the UK spec machines have stopped at 155mph I can carry on into the distance (LOL, downhill on a private test track of course)

I have had no extra problems with mine being a Jap import except the fuse for the rear fog lights blowing and all the fuses are labelled in Japanese (although there is a translation available somewhere). It just meant removing each fuse to fnd out which one was broken.

Insurance and warranties may be more expensive depending on company though.

japs are cheaper to buy but on the whole its better to have a uk model with insurance parts etc all being easier to source and cheaper.....having said that i have a jap car and its the mutts nuts imho

Realistically, with the knowledge of the people here, technically it won't make any difference. The only inconvenience is insurance and all the Jap cars here are insured (I hope).

Most important thing, as has been said several times already, is get a good one. A bad one will cost money - lots !

I just got a UK one, thought I woz gonna have to settle for an import, which i really didnt want. UK cars are really hard to find (for the right cash!!) waited & waited & was just gonna get an import i saw when a nice uk one for the right price turned up! so i bought it !! biggrin.gif

main reason was insurance, uk = £550 for me, import was £880!! many companies simply will not quote for an import, then the nelson thing charging £30 just to look parts up! ffs!

if you dont mind paying more every year, get an import, you do the maths!

like most people have said tho, just make sure its a nice one & what u want.

Shoot me down in flames....I've always thought jap spec's are more powerful cause uk models are tuned down, maybe this only applys with scoobys.........? Who will correct me next...i'm sorry.....lol

Hehe sorry Nismo - wasn't meaning to offend just wanted to make my point clear that there is no difference in power between the two wink.gif

There's a "gentlemen's agreement" between J manufacturers that no one will make a car with more than 280hp. (There was also a bike importers agreement about 125hp for UK bikes but don't know what they do these days.)

Look back at all J sports / big motors and they are all rated at 280-hp. Spooky or what?

A) Now we know that J engineers are damn fine (except for Honda this year lol - maybe they should get their bike engineers to help out like they did the last time their F1 was pig slow. Anyway, I digress) and that they have of course improved their engines year on year. But to keep within the agreement, they artificially restrict them in various ways.

This is our good luck because

B) that's why performance gains are so easy (relatively) to achieve. The performance is already there, just get rid of the restrictions.
