F***ing Safety Boost again:(

Checked and cleaned AFM, CAS, Coolant Sensor and TPS.

Bypassed the kock sensor with resistor..

Checked stock boost solenoids are still connected (doh!) and still only 7psi boost.

Fuck it I have to put the EVC4 on.. lets see the ECU argue with that !

Glen,

You have checked for Error code yeah ?

If you aren't gettin any and you have Done all the above things - have you reset the ECU - It tends to store the Error codes for a long time !

Also check for boost leaks - You might not be in safety boost after all !

Please please buy it - im gettin desperate now god damit !!!

Cheers for the suggestion Nick,

I checked ECU a while back and it read 55 - just to be sure removed kock sensor connector and returned 34, then bypassed back to 55.

I was under the impression it would 'overboost' with a leak or am I thinking of something else? frown.gif - I have reset the ECU lots (battery off for long periods) but I am pretty sure it will still give me 55 - it allways does..

My other guess would be detonation (hey a PROPER REASON for S/B LOL!) but as I have bypassed the cock sensor that would kinda rule that out.. grrr@knowing a little about 300zx but not alot! smile.gif

Perhaps could badly fitted dump valves (CHRIS FOSTER where are you LMAO!) cause boost leak... hmm thanks Nico will go out and check some of them there pipes smile.gif

Really?... Ouch! biggrin.gif

Dude man question: Is the car feeling like it's lagging on cadbury's boost? Could just be the shite that is the stock boost guage! wink.gif Or are you running with an aftermarket jobby bud?

Tim mate,

Goes like stink as far as I am concerned but have only had driven 2 zeds and one was defo S/B and I think this one is too frown.gif

Stock boost gauge reads:

boostgauge.jpg

and the GReddy one reads 0.5 kg/cm2 or bar which is 7.0 psi - I think the stock one is reading 7psi too frown.gif

Hi Glen

You would be most welcome to come out for a spin in my Zed to see if you think there is much difference. Give me a call and we can meet up one evening M8.

Seez ya

Glen,

Come up to Slough on Saturday, we can put the Techtom on it to confirm whether the ECU thinks its in s/b.

Not sure I can read your english, but I'll try ;-)

Bypass the detonation sensor with a 1Mo resistor, then the car CANNOT be in safety boost because of the detonation sensor, or because of detonation.

It MAY be in safety boost because of an ECU problem, or a harness problem.

Put your ECU in diag mode, and check

If you got a code 55, that's great.

Then the ONLY other reason (from the ECU point of view) is that your engine coolant is malfunctioning.

If it's not...then it's possible that your BCSV, the solenoids themselves, are defect.

If you have access to a Nissan Consult, or a Techtom, that would help.

BTW, you did NOT replace hoses recently ?

Because some Z have "stock" boost jets. If you remove the hose not knowing that detail, you'll reduce your boost

Thanks Andy, Simon and Henri for the replies smile.gif

Henri, I have bypassed with your tech write up (good article, I noticed your complaints on TTnet that everyone thinks S/B is knock sensor related! smile.gif )

I have no error code - no code 13 for coolant temp sensor, I am replacing coolant temp sensor tomorrow, so we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the offer of the tomtechtom Andy, cant make saturday but much appreciate your offer smile.gif

Simon mate, what you upto tonight mate smile.gif would love to have a blast in the Strosek beast smile.gif - I have lost your mobile number, can you mail me at glenlewis@newyorkcity.com and we'll have to get together smile.gif

Nice one!

Glen - I bet your stock solenoids have been disconnected at some point wink.gif If there has ever been a boost controller on the car then this could well be the case...

They are black squareish connectors down the sides of the engine - thats the best way I can describe them.... If these are not connected you will be forever in SB wink.gif

CheerZ,

Andy

Are you sure that little air fule metre thingy has not been switched on? i remember it caused problems?

I'm sure that myself and Aaron discussed this with him last year ... Can't remember the outcome though.

Thanks for the input Andy smile.gif

I have checked all the connectors I can see down by the turbos, I thought the connectors were like a darkish brown color and sorta oval in shape, all seems normal and connected but I must admit its not easy seeing in there smile.gif - Warren mate, I dare not turn that god-forsaken Air/Fuel mixer on ever ever LOL, its hidden under the carpet like a scary thing. wink.gif

Oh well tiddly doo - I'll give Simon H a shout and have a look at his engine see if its all the same with the connectors and stuff.

Thanks again chaps,

Hi Glen

Can meet up with you tomorrow evening if you like. Would do it tonight but I am going to pick up a Renault Espace!!. Sad life when you have to drive one of those with a tribe of kids in the back. Tried to convince the missus they could all fit in the zed if I took the roof off but she was having none of it!!!!. If you want to meet up Glen give me a ring, I will e-mail my numbers over again.

Seez ya!!
