Disk copying

Hi does anyone know of any reliable software to copy my hard disk onto another so I can boot from it? I've tried Norton Ghost and just can't get it to work. It copies across but will just not boot :(

    I've always used Partition Magic for copying HD to HD, but looking at their site it looks like they've been bought by Symantec :mac1:

    did you boot it in to DOS using a Ghost boot disc?

    I am sure somewhere in the options of Ghost it will say create a DOS ghost disc.

     

    The reason it is not working, its you need to image files which are currently in use or protected by the OS>

     

    So booting into DOS and using the DOS interface means that no OS files are loaded or protected so they can be imaged.

    That makes sense but there is no option for creating any sort of DOS disk :(

    OK try booting in to DOS with a DOS boot disc. Windows XP can create a boot disc.

    WHen booted into DOS, go to the Ghost directory and then run ghost. Try that.

    Are they SATA Drives?

     

    Try booting in to dos via Windows Recovery Console.

     

    Boot up your computer using your Windows Installation CD. When the blue screen has come one and dones all it checks, a menu will appear. I think you press C to get to the recovery console.

     

    You should then ahve access to your hard drives.
