Seen today that JTuner magazine has closed down due to financial reasons :cry:

 

Shame for anyone who had their car feature coming up next month!

Many magazines fail in the first 18 months.

 

It did launch into a small, fairly homogenous market without being hugely distinct from the established competition.

Better cancell the subscription quick,

Tis true mate, they rang me yesterday cos i advertise with them and asked if i fancied going with Redline instead. The next issue has been stopped!

The thing is, in the Seventies ALL car mags of note, had ladies sprawled all over them! But that was then seen as 'Old Hat' and Non-PC in the Eighties. So how come these days there are so many Lads-Mags available, and yet the majority of proper car mags still don't do it?

 

Now I'm not saying that it's right (as I don't want a toraid(sp?) of abuse from our feminist contingent), but it did sell mags before, and they seem to go quite nicely hand in hand. But then I'm talking about scantily clad and not naked.

Well lots more women buy car mags now and we tend to choose them for there car content not tits lol

Just three Jap ones I can think of off the top of my head, all of which DO NOT have women all over the place......

 

And for the Euro scene.....

 

Fast Ford and Classic Ford are the same to name just two I'm familier with.

From the same stable as Fast Ford there are quite a few single Marque mags that they produce all along the same format.

 

So my point? Well there are loads of Car/NON-Naked lady mags out there. And that is a very good thing, as there are plenty of Lad-Mags out there as well that cater for the other side of the coin.

 

Please, no-one take my comments above the wrong way, I'm not saying that it should go back to the way of the Seventies, but it did sell mags every week.

I agree, my point was that the "mainstream" mags, and by that i mean the likes of Max Power, Redline, Fast Car all seem to concentrate more on women than they do on cars.

Single marque mags are much much better when it comes to concentrating on the machienery.

It is a shame to see a decent mag go down the toilet, ive only seen 1 copy of it but certainly had potential.

1 copy and you are slagging off all the other mags, yes the other mags are full of tits but they also have more than just a few scoobies and evo's

Are not single marque mags, they all cater for an ever increasing Japanese car scene.

 

Fast Ford has been going for a hell of a long time (late eighties I think). It may be a single marque, but it caters for a shit load of models, and then in the late 90's Classic Ford took over the older (pre 90's) Fords. They are both extremely well put together mags, they must be, they are still in production! I know all this, because I have quite a large collection of both :D, I went from Fast to Classic when it came out, as it was more my scene............. Until I discovered HERE!!!!!!!! ;)

Motoring magazines are having a hard time of late.

 

People get a lot of information on the subject from forums like this now.

 

I offered to do some work for JTuner and sent in samples and stuff but the editior never got back to me.

ayone here have or have read every copy of jtuner?

I have and I only renewed my subs a few months back :( Sounds like I'm going to lose some cash :(

A real shame. The best of the 3...a magazine that concentrated on the real hardcore Jap tuning scene...and not the bling.

 

Jap performance is a better mag than Banzai, yet Banzai is the biggest selling :wack: ....the readers want scoobys and neon civics :(

me and the ex used to get jtuner every issue. It is a shame that in a society such as todays where we have had female prime ministers, astronauts etc that sex still sells. Unlike the porn mags disguised as car mags jtuner certainly appealed to a car enthusiast, its failure surely suggests that there are not as many true enthusiasts as we would like to think??

 

and why is it that they are all bloody women scantily clad what about some fit hunks for the lady enthusiast if sex sells so bloody much!! do men think women dont have desires eh????? :p

I think Craig David's right - more and more stuff is internet based now. Why buy a mag for £3.99 when you can watch a vid of a Skyline drifting around a corner for free?
