I would love to have a exhaust exiting just infront of my rear wheels, maybe through a hole in the sideskirt.

Anyone done this and any potential problems?

Been thinking of this myself as I have side exit on my Volvo. Have to get some small silencers where the cats are normally. Main problem would be ground clearance, be difficult getting it through the skirt as you'd have to cut the sill up I'd have thought.

I asked about a similar idea, through the front wing behind front wheels or under front wing, basically told not possible due to chassis being in the way meaning the exhaust would have to go below the chassis and that would be almost touching the ground, well that's what a reputable Z mechanic told me.

Apparantly it's illegal in this contry to have a side exit exhaust on a road going car as I was gonna do this on my old S12 Silvia but it would be bloody funny setting fire to pedestrians and small animals when the bugger backfires! :D

I like the ideal..not actually sure if it would suit the zed though

I don't really know the ledgistics of it but I belive you can get away with it if the exit isn't dead side on to the car it's gotta be pointing a slight towards the back of the car at a slight angle so the gasses flow to the rear of the car... Could be wrong though...

I know of a pretty amazing S13 that lives locally to me that has one too. Sounds lovely. The owner is quite well known on the SXOC.

I think John dixon is having side exits on his V8 conversion.

Leon @Alunox is making them for him.

Give him a call...

norris designs evo has a side exit between the front and rear wheels and passed mot fine for use on the road

I'm probably going to have a single rear exit as the normal exhaust then a side exit tuned length pipe for when the bypass valve is active.

With the TT running a side exit isn't going to leave much room to get a silencer of any sort in there and it will be very loud.

Heres a ZX with one......although it is a pure racing car.....

Even that's angled back slightly... Must be road leagal!!! No hand's up It was my mistake, apparently it's only illegal if yop have the anti lag switched on and you accidentally set fire to children and small animals... You also get a prison sentence...
