need some help pls!!!

about 2 weeks ago i noticed knocking from the engine. its coming from bottom end. can feel it thro clutch peddle. doesnt keep consistant rpm on idle. it goes up and down all the time. can hear tapping from top off engine. i would think it would be around crankshaft.

brought the car off a member of this club who said engine was rebuilt by ryan at zedtech. tried to contact the member but doesnt reply! nice chap!(dont want to mention any names) ryan can remember doing it but he said it was about 3 years ago.

could it be bearings or shells?

Sounds like bottom end to me... Shells and crank if so......

it just started to happen 1 day.

recently replaced propshaft bearing, but all is fine that end

it still knocks when depressing clutch.

After a good thrashing, it over heated, anything ?

Sounding more like the motor end :(

no over heating. never really thrash it

think it is bottom end. can hear it alot clearer when engine cold on idle. something is rattling or loose inside!

if it is bottom end (crank/shells etc.) how difficult is it to sort. bit of a novice on lower part of engine

can you do it from underneath or has engine got to come out?

Engine out job. Don't replace shells with the engine in the car - the crank is usually knackered on the VG30 so will either need a regring and oversize bearings or a new crank.... You can't get the crank out with the block in - well you could but it would twice as long than if you pulled the engine first ;)

fookin ell. sounds expensive. o well more money! i love these cars

I am happy to let everyone know it was me who sold this car and would like to straighten a few points out, but I will do this in a seperate thread, so not to take away from any advice you might get.

Make no mistake, I am pi$$ed! :nono:

Well if I am over reacting, I appologise.... but I loved my zed to an unhealthy degree. I keep hearing from Dave about issues with it and it breaks my heart. Then to read that he 'tried to contact the member but doesnt reply! nice chap!' sounds like he meant me.

Not a day goes by that I don't regret selling my zed, to the point I have even started looking for a replacement.... but I only know of three other Dark blue manual TT's in the the country so I know I won't find another like mine ever.
