LOL! Cavalier GSis just need lowering and nothing else.

I had one as a runabout about 4 years ago. Lovely car actually. Fitted H&R springs to mine and it handled like a dream. Unlike conventional Cavaliers, the GSi came with the independant rear suspension (also fitted to 4x4/turbo models) and do handle very well when fitted with uprated springs.

lol, i had the same thing when i was 15 just as max power came out. Think mine was an astra gti 2 litre :D

sure you dont mean GTE? :D

i wanted one of those as well, when i had my lovely C-reg 1.3 automatic astra. i was always arguing with my mate whether the GTE or the SRi was better. the GTE was 16v and the SRi was 8v - in the same way the Cav GSi was 16v and the Cav SRi was 8v. He wouldnt listen :headvswal

MK2 Astra GTEs were available in 8v guise too. Infact early ones used the 18SE engine as fitted to the SRi (C and early D reg cars). When the SRi was launched (87), the 20SEH (2.0 8v) was fitted to the GTE as well as the 16v 20XE.

Early Cavalier SRis came with the 20SEH 8v unit as fitted to the 8v GTE. Late Cavalier SRis also were fitted with the X20XE (16v) and the really early facelift Cavaliers (K and early L reg) actually had the C20XE as fitted to the Cavalier/Astra GSis. The facelift SRi 8v car was then fitted with a Catalyst equiped 8v unit, the C20NE which was also fitted to 2.0 8v MK3 Astras and the very last production MK2 Astra Cabrio (j and K reg). Incidently, the GTE convertible was never available with a 16v engine. Infact, the 8v 2.0 engine fitted to that was the low compression 20NE and C20NE....the higher compression 20SEH was fitted to the tin top GTE and developmed about 15bhp more.

Had the manta GTE bloody thing cought fire it was totally gutted, not as gutted as me tho lol

I still got 1 of them wish lists but its for the zed now

It says i wish it was reliable

No, I think you'll find that the early ones were 20XE. The 'C' denotes the fact that it's Catalyst equipped. No Astra GTE was ever fitted with a Catalyst (other than the late edition 8v GTE Cabrios...Late J and early K reg).

Like I said, no GTE 16v was ever fitted with catalytic converters.... ;) Even late ones in that shell were 20XE. ;)

Catalyst was available however on Cavalier GSis. But only from about early 92 I think. The 4x4 GSis came with it as standard. Slightly different ECU as they have another few sensors. The very late ones as fitted to the Astra GSi (L - M reg came with dis-pack as opposed to the early models which came with a distributer. Again, different ECUs, but retained the engine code.
