WHAT WS THAT MATE??

Check for boost leaks

I just got my young daughter to read this for me, (mobile phone language I think).

I had a faulty coilpack which died off over 4000 rpm, causing the "pull back" you describe. Difficult to pin down which one it was. Just kept changing each one for a known good one and taking the car out for a blast. (Thanks again to Andy P. for loaning me a Sunday morning and a coilpack)

well from the plenum area there is like clicky type of noise, and from reading up on here it seems like they are common faults on these, and yes mines doing the same, goes up until 3 - 4000 rpm then just drops dead and feels like its pulling back!

You could try typing in english with a little punctuation here and there.....

.......it would make your question easier to read

Richard

sorry mate im to use to txting thats all!

The clicking is your injectors and is normal as long as they all sound the same. If it's a jap import like mine, you will get the cat overheat light come on if you are dropping a cylinder for more than a few seconds, as it tries to convert all the unburnt fuel.

bit of info needed mate

does the fault continually occur or does it clear after a few accelerations

have you checked for fault codes

few things to check

MAF can cause this issue type thing if its getting wet ( vented nose panel)

coils packs and plugs

injector connectors going and shaking loose when high revs

Boost leak.

Whistles as the revs rise? Unless your turbos are ****ed then this is not normal - turbos should not whistle on these cars. Whislting is caused by the air escaping. Also the fact that its pulling back also suggests a boost leak - the MAF is measuring the amount of air going in and the ecu is trying to fuel accordingly, but some of that air is escaping before it gets to the combustion chambers - therefore you're running rich and thats why the engine is pulling back. Take your foot off the accelerator, less boost pressure, less air escapes, mixture returns to the correct level....

i was thinking more kind of the old boost cut type of effect with the injecters earthing out to give you that pull back feel ...lol, thought you could hear your tubs whistle when running high boost....hope so cause i can sometimes..oops...hold it a minute what happens if your viscous fan clutch is foobarred and locks fully on...just a thought as that would whistle

Turbos whistle when the impellor is damaged due to the turbulence off the blades ;) Usually caused by small pieces of debris being allowed through the filter. BIG turbos are different - they do tend to whistle slightly.

yeh it whistles when its floord at around 4000rpm ish as it starts pulling back, u see i have hks ssqv dump valves as well and they have a little whstle from them, but this whistle is stronger and when i floor it it startes bout 4000rpm when it starts to pull back and when i lift off gas it makes a popish type of noise then whistle goes away, and when i floor it again it does the same. if i drive the car normally and not floor it then theres no pulling back drives perfect andy ur in preston im not far from you in in blackburn and i think iv been to you b4 for some parts passenger side wing fuel vapor canister intercooler this was last year, do u live in leyland? would we be able to hook up some time? i realy want this sorted as its pi****n me off and dont wana damage anything further. let me know if u cant no probs, here will do. cheer
