Take off the brake fluid resovoir cap.

Use some more force but be carefull not to damage discs.

With peugeot caliper wont reptract it needs a tool to turn it and it 'screws' into the caliper, with zeds im pretty sure its just brute force - not too much tho, it could be stuck and then it'll need a rebuild.

Try a big screwdriver or something but use a small bit of wood to avoid damage to rotor.

Good luck.

...having removed the pads, clean any muck from behind the dust seals on each piston and apply pink hydraulic grease with a fine paint brush onto the piston walls. Press the brake pedal carefully so that the pistons protrude out of the caliper in an even fashion - ie all 4 sticking out more than they would if they had pads in. Make sure they dont come out altogether. Then make sure the piston walls are clean, ie not rusty, then apply a little more pink grease. Then force each piston back - a small amount at at time per piston untill they are all back in place. I levered them in using a long spanner. Repeat this process (minus any further greasing) again and again, untill all of the pistons pop out of the caliper (when the break pedal is depressed) in an equal amount.

...takes as long to describe what to do as it takes to actually do the job.

...good luck

Herman,

As Glen said take the resevoir cap off, be careful you don't overflow the resevoir when you retract the pistone.

How are you 'squeezing' the calipers? I use a G clamp and an old pad to push the pistons back in, if you have ally calipers use a bluck of wood so you don't damage them.

If it is solid there is a possibility that the piston is siezed. Did it move at all? If its going to budge the G clamp will do it.

Thanks for the advice, I think some of the pistons have siezed ! Only 2 of the pistons come out, one on each side when I press the pedal.I did manage to move 2 with the tyre iron ! and yep I have damaged the rotors as a result DOH ! I'll wait for it to stop raining then try again with a G-Clamp.

Thanks for the help.

If you can be arsed to rebuild the calipers properly with new seals and clean the pistons you'll be amazed how easy the pistons go back in - fingers can push em in nae bother!

If the cars done decent miles you might be finding it hard just to clean them up in situ with the pistons just sticking out further. If you see uneven wear or any rust on your discs then you might as well do it properly. I explained the pain I went thru recently on a post on this subject. Like 100psi air not even shifting the stuck pistons. Had to hydraulic em out and piss brake fluid everywhere each time.
