Ok next problem.

 

Bled them up.WITHOUT engine running pumped the pedal and held it...pressure remains. Let it go and wait ten seconds..pedal will travel to the floor.

 

WITH engine running pedal hits the floor and has absolutely NO pressure at all. What the hell is going on with my car? :shock:

If the seals in the m/s were dodgy im sure if you pumped them up and held it the pedal would still go to the floor. Your saying it stays solid, no movement?

Still sounds like air.

I have used a 12 volt windscreen washer pump to bleed brakes/clutches. Maybee a waste of time if the master cylinder is nachered but worth a try.

Sounds like you still have air in them mate .. when you pump it up the air is compressed making you think the pedal is ok .. 10secs later the air is back to it previous size and yer pedal is soft .. you did bleed them at the ABS unit in the boot first didn't you ?? Another trick from sorting sports bikes is to use a 50mm syringe and push the fluid in from the caliper..

Leak or mastercylinder seals. I'd go with leak. What exactly did you do with the calipers?

Another way is reverse pressure bleeding where the pressurised fluid is applied to a bleed nipple and pushed back up the line to the master cylinder. to use this system is pretty well a last ditch measure but very effective.

A lot of people are telling me to bleed at the ABS unit first, but in the manual it says to leave this til last? Totally confused.

 

I'm gonna try back bleeding it with a washer pump.

back bleeding under pressure can fold the seals back in the master,ive done this in the past but with great caution and no more than 2-3 psi :nono: iff your gunna pressure bleed which by the way is very effective ide go down the lines from the master. :) . ive had this bother in the past and its a pain in the ass with some systems and ive found one of the best methods (but slow at first) is the gravity method,undo all the nipples a tiny bit and keep topping the system up as the fluid drops (make sure it dont drop to low to let any air in) then tighten up and go through the normal procedure of bleeding. iff all this dont work check your insurance and make sure the seat belts work proper ;) :rofl: :rofl:

Hehe, you haven't changed have you!! THanks for the hint. Couldn't be bothered to reverse bleed it. I spent about two hours with my dad bleeding the whole system. Not the vaguest trace of air and about 5 litres of brake fluid so its safe to say i've chnaged the fluid. Still no pressure and when the car starts - straight to the floor. My master cylinder seals are *****xed me thinks.

 

THis is the problem you have when u use these "fantastic" cars everyday. So now i gotta try to find a seal kit and fix the damn thing. And i have no idea how to do it. I'm gonna give the master cylinder and seal kit to a friend and get them to do it. Then its bleed it ALL again. Great.

if the system has no air in it and the master is at fault.once you have rebuilt it put it in a bench vice and fill the resovoir.push the cylinder in and out till you get fluid out the ports.refit it to the car.loosen the brake pipes and get someone to apply the brake.tighten the pipe nuts and repeat like you were bleeding at the nipples.i have done this many times and it saves a lot of p**sing about.

Dinna bother di**ing about bleed it to the ABS unit till you get a kinda half pedal then bleed at the wheels .. Start the car and you get a nice hard one for you right foot ;) done loads works everytime !!!!
