My Mate Has A Clio Williams Which We Pitted Against Mt Zed Tt

Although When The Zed Is Going Its Quick I Struggled To Keep Up With Him From Standing Starts Etc

My Car Is An Auto Which I Know Doesnt Help But I Was Gutted

The Zed Is Quick But I Was Shocked At How Quick The Clio Was Any Suggestions????????

You should be easily be infront by the time your going 40mph, only thing I can think of is the clio's weigh less.

are you running the right bost? Zeds only run 5psi when in safty boost. i.e when cold and when it detects det.

Yeah Running A Good Amount Of Boost Just Struggled To Keep Up With Him Although After Initial Take Off I Was Pegging Him For Acceleration But His Clio Was Quick It Just Shocked Me!!!

been so long since i drove a std zed that i cant remember how fast stock is supposed to be, but im sure it should not struggle against a clio williams, especialy as if i remember right i smoked civic type r's all day when mine was std and and auto.

Maybe I Was Being Over Careful It Was Wet And I Did Wait A While Before Nailing It Trouble Is The Zed Accelerates So Quickly You Have To Back Off Or Crash!!!

What Kind Of Mods Do U Have To Your Car And Where Should I Start Without Spending A Fortune???????

In the dry you can nail a std zed from start and it will grip and go, but remember you must make sure your auto box has adequate cooling or you have lots of money for a new auto box.

Basic mods are exhaust and filter to start. then possibly 1.2mm bost jets. then an uprated ECU and 1.0mm boost jets. I ran mine at 1.2bar with 1.2mm jets, but that was because I ran the 2 sperate pipes and connected them to be one, with 1 boost jet (like you wuld do to fit a boost controller).

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE DO U GUYS EVER MEET UP????

yep there a sw section which is ran by anna, i think there is a meet soon and nar far from you if my geography is correct.

Up to 30 or 40 it could be close, as suggested above. The Clio has a pretty powerful engine for its size and weighs less than a tissue box.

But the Clio has a 0-60 time of over 7 seconds compared to 5.6 for the 300zx. I'd have thought the Clio would have a quicker "take-off" speed but after a couple of seconds the zx would have been in front and pulling further away.

Perhaps your auto box is tired....?

There is also a knack to fast take-offs in an auto. I believe there was a recent thread on "how to do it properly" - I posted on it........ ;)

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I would burn my Zed if it couldn't beat a Clio Williams.

I've owned a Williams before that was tuned and there is no way it would pull away from a Zed, it's a quick little car but not in our class.

If you had any problems with a Clio williams then its more than likely your car is'nt running right.

Do an ECU test. Its shocking the amount of zed's running around in safety mode. (probably 30-40% I see are in safety mode !!)

http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostictech.html (or get it connected to Datascan/Conzult)

Also worth getting your Fuelling checked, o2 sensors, temp sensor...etc

You should have made mince meat of that clio, you've let the side down there. Try pushing the righthand pedal to the floor next time

i was killing williams in my carlton 24v your zed should have beat it easy

Exactly!

My slk230 auto has no trouble with a Williams Clio and my ZX will stuff the Merc.......

Either adjust your driving style of get your ZX looked at. ;)

i have a friend with a stripped out williams that is chipped that weighs in at just under 900kgs and i still have him easily enough

I think you must be running on about 3 cylinders. Either that or you were pushing your car..... :D ;)

I (well the Mrs) owned a 52 plate Renault Clio 172 Sport CUP, the stripped out version, and yeah, that was quick, quicker than a Williams Clio for sure, BUT a TT Z should cream all over it no messin !!!!
