Look at the two bolts on the bell housing, one had a bolt and a nut and the top one had just a bolt! I did notice that there was a groove on the bell housing, presumably made by a nut! Jesus it's scarey!

Timmy, convert file from .GIF to .JPG, compresses it to 118k for all the slower connections out there.

 

As for gearbox.......should have bought a manual!!! (Which one though, 5spd or paperback?)

I'm not too sure what your point is. The Setscrews enter the bellhousing from alternatate sides, it is quite likely that that is the way it is meant to be.

 

The direction of the bolt is usually determined by the forces acting upon it.

My point Tim is this, when my car went into a local garage when the gearbox starting playing up they noticed that the bell housing was attached to the engine with NON-STANDARD Nelson bolts!

 

Now they weren't even a Nelson, before anyone starts don't about SE either. Ten to one that the car was like that when I bought it.

 

I was asking if that is right, bolt and nut on one of them, just a bolt on the other???

 

Am I flavour of the month or what?

Checked mine (manual) box and it's different - it doesn't have the new looking screw type thing that yours has. Almost looks like a self tapper - wierd !??

Thanks for taking the time out to look mate! Mucho appreciato as usual, not concerened too much about it, but if the bolts aren't right then obviously I wanna order a full set of proper ones from Nelson.

 

I'm horrified that you can make a 10+ year old car look brand new with bodykits etc. for the exterior but underneath the age tells!

 

I'm on a crusade now to protect my investment and replace as much as possible, suspension wise etc. before Nissan cut the line forever for our cars!!!
