just been reading about it becoming law to drive with your lights on all times of the day

apperently it something to do with being more visible to pedestrians and other drivers, tests have shown that people who drive with their lights on at all times have far less accidents than those who dont drive with their lights on

IMHO i think its a stupid idea, what babout people on motor bikes, what will make them stand out from the crowd (must say if it wasnt for the lights on a bike i may have pulled out on one or two)

also think their will be an endless amount of broken down cars at the side of roads because not every car has a boing when you leave the lights on when the ignition is off

what next, maybe not being able to drive whilst drunk lol

I turn my lights on during the day if the visibility either degrades or it becomes dull.

Volvos and some Saabs always have lights on, think it's law in Sweden. In the US, a lot of cars have running lights.

And then there are the tossers that put their rear fog lights on when they see a bit of mist :slap:

Can't the dozy feckers understand the idea is for other drivers to see them, not so they can see what's behind them. Read your highway code FFS, only use them when visibility is below 100m - if you can see the car in front of you when it doesn't have rear fogs on then you don't need yours........ :nono:

And then the twats leave them switched on for the next 3 weeks when there is no linger a slight mist and keep blinding everone at night.......

Rant over!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

here here dont fookin need em on around town anyway, should be allowed to shoot em out with a 12 bore, and they obviously dont look at the dash and see the light on :headvswal

the only plus side for me is i got HIDS so they do look kinda cool when there on, but otherwise its a sh** idea. i also ride bikes so i agree with stellaz, it will make us blend in to much and thats not a good idea for a motorcyclist. we need to be seen more not less.

Very true!

Headlights are mandatory in bad weather anyway but that would be pointless in normal conditions.

Although I have been known to use headlights when driving faster than average on a motorway in all but sunny weather. It does make others notice you and stops a lot of drivers pulling in front of you...... ;)

After clicking the reply bit, just delete the text you don't want from their post, but keep all the [brackets] in place and leaving the words you want to keep...

I don't know how to post up multiple quotes though - as some have done here.....

Dear peds, please keep a look out for any of the following as indications that a car is approaching:

a) a car approaching

b) a rumbling noise

c) a big moving hulk of metal

d) a large 3D coloured square

e) something with 4 wheels that looks like it could hurt you if it hit you

f) etc.

You could have something there. Maybe pedestrians should have a license to walk on the pavement and they need to go through a test to get the license just like we have to so we can use the road!

OR

we should just put a 6ft fence instead of kerb :)

Then you wouldn't be able to scan the birds as you drive past ;) :D

Its only an idea thats being banded around at the moment.
