took about an hour and a half - and most of that was fiddling with a couple of hard-to-get-at nuts and trying to splice some wire together. otherwise it was a simple job, and im no DIY guy!

just a question - when the headlights are switched on, the inverter (the little black box) makes a faint high-pitched whistling noise. is this normal?

the rear panel seems to work fine - the sun's out so i had to put a thick jacket over my head to see it working. it seems to be quite dull in colour but when compared to the stock picture it seems to be ok. i'll get another picture when its dark tonight. the cool thing is that the light is exactly the same colour as my car! :nana2: :nana2:

I need to know specific locations. Best I can find is one in the centre below the locking mechanism. I've also isolated what appears to be the main ground coming in on the wiring loom but the damn lights still glow!

it's earthed elsewhere in the loom, you're better off splicing it nearer the headlight switch and just make it so it cuts off the tail/plate lights. then another that disconnects the brake light switch @ the pedal, pick the correct switch though as one runs into the cruise control.

 

for a cheap plate flipper, hack up an electric fold in mirror.

Only way you're going to be able to do that is by seperating all the rear light grounds from the main loom cut them out completely, then rub it through your relay to an independant earth.

 

The way i previously mentioned requires 2 relays, but you trigger them off the one switch.

Yeah, that's the plan. According to the circuit diagram in the workshop manual thre is a main ground point for the rear lights. Just trying to find that.

Ok, that would help a lot dude. Been thinking, if I was to cut the power from the switches and the brake pedal then I'd need numreous relays as surely the lights are sepearted into various circuits...

Nope... where head/tail light wire heads off towards tail cut it and install a relay, same with + wire from brake pedal switch, put in another relay, run both relays on same trigger wire to your switch, job done.

I was under the impression car lights were always seperated so if a fuse blew you would only lose one rear light and still have the other...

If I remember correctly Dave your postcode was there for all to see but now it isn't and what we see now is South Central, which sounds like a train station and gives me no clue whatsoever where you are :laugh:
