took about an hour and a half - and most of that was fiddling with a couple of hard-to-get-at nuts and trying to splice some wire together. otherwise it was a simple job, and im no DIY guy!

just a question - when the headlights are switched on, the inverter (the little black box) makes a faint high-pitched whistling noise. is this normal?

the rear panel seems to work fine - the sun's out so i had to put a thick jacket over my head to see it working. it seems to be quite dull in colour but when compared to the stock picture it seems to be ok. i'll get another picture when its dark tonight. the cool thing is that the light is exactly the same colour as my car! :nana2: :nana2:

I really like them....although can't decide if they're bordering on cheesey or not. Still think they look cool though.

Red ones are legal (thats why I changed mine for a red one).

Green ones (and probably blue too) are brighter, if you like that sort of thing LOL.

It was an optional extra for the later models of 300ZX. I think they where green. :(

Mine's original if a little intermittent. Works for a few days then packs in then works again then packs in.... rather like the zed lol :D

I have the stock green one. passed the mot with it on

Lucky.;)

Only red, orange (when turning) and white (when reversing) are legal on the back of a car.

and white all the time for number plate lights

mot testers are really inconsistant in my experiance, they even passed my number plate which is too small and not legal!

My front plate is a 3/4 size and it didn't even get a mention.

Yep, but that should be a 'reflected' light off the plate.

(Phew, got away with that I think;))

Bugger

I made mine some years back using dual colour red / green LED's. I can choose between red, green or both (an orange sort of colour).

I was going to make an electronic circuit to change the bias on both led packages so it slowly changes from red to green through all the colours in between and back again. Then it would switch to red only when you brake.

Perhaps I won't now

Or then again ..... :p wait and see what the cops say

I suspect that it was too dim for the MOT tester to tell that it was on.

Also, I think I'm correct in saying that MOT inspectors ONLY care about number plate digit spacing, not size. Could be wrong though .... PaulC ?

I remember ceejay had a blue neon under the back of his car which he got pulled for.

He got away with it as he argued that the light they could see was reflected off the ground and there were no blue lights on the rear of the car.

Appears correct...

Should have been pulled by the style police for that one!

Interesting.

Reason for rejection:

f. adversely affected by the operation of another lamp, eg dual-function lamps on foreign vehicles

Note: On vehicles first used before 1 September 1965, it is acceptable for a direction indicator lamp to be incorporated with a stop lamp.

They should fail those damn new Golfs that have the indicator inside the brake light ring.

Bloody difficult to tell when they're on sometimes.

in the boot theres a few that go directly to the body. if you remove all the trimmings you'll see a couple of good practical options.
