I've come across two diagnostic software for the zx. The one from DTA motorsport called Conzult diagnostic (315 EUR) and one from Concept Z performance called BlaZt consult ($149.99). Is there anyone that has tried or know something about these softwares and could recomend one..?

Danny (DTA) is a trader on here in the UK, many members use his Conzult :)

Im the forum trader for Datascan Software & cable kits (the same as sold by CZP).

Both Conzult and Datascan perform the same main functions.

They will read Error codes and display the output of all the sensors read by the ECU with datalogging abilities. You can also perform advanced tests such as adjusting timinging and idle, switching off Cylinders..etc

Conzult (£265) - is a better Workshop/Garage tool, as it offers additional features that may be used by a specialist, such as Hicas and Aircon Diagnostics.

Datascan (£75) - is a better end user tool, it offers all the features a Zed owner and DIY mechanic will need. Its better as a driving aid, allowing you to view all the sensors in easy to see Anaglog gauge format while driving.. It also has functionality for measuring vehicle Performance(0-60mph...etc)

I've had a ConZult for a few years and it has been really useful on mine and a stack of other peoples' cars. I have seen a Datascan and was impressed by some features. May be tempted to buy one of those as well ....

Isn't there a free tool as well that just needs a clever cable made up ?

I seriously doubt it....one of the main things datascan lacks is a proper manual/guide.

I've lost count of the posts like: "datascan userguide ?", "datascan problems", "Datascan Diagnostics Help", "can somebody please look at my datascan logfiles and tell me if my car is ok"

I'm in the process (a very slow process, lots of other things going on) of writing a linux server daemon that will talk to the ECU through a datascan cable. I've got the initial server pretty much done, just taking lots of time writing header files with all the addresses and codes in. My carpc is linux-based, and I wanted something native to talk to the engine.

Cheers - have seen these. Am continuing to work on my own for now, more for the fun of doing it and having it exactly as I want it than anything else. I've got Datascan working under WINE for now, so it's one of those "when I have time and nothing else is important" things.

So conzult does the same as datascan + hicas and aircon then?

conzult does lots more than datascan, the question you really should be asking is do you need the extra features. Datascan is a good produc,t its definalty lacking a user guide, but it does work and lets you see whats going on in the ecu. Conzult is more a technical tool for fault finding and a proper look at more of the car than just ecu functions (as metioned before aircon hicas etc..)

....one of the main things datascan lacks is a proper manual/guide.

I have Datascan and I must say that I've never needed a manual - it's very easy to use software.

As for interpreting the data, if you don't know what sensors do and what they should read, why did you buy the software ? :slap:

Wouldn't this affect the Conzult software too or do they explain things like this ?

Using it to view the sensors is fine, but it also has otpions to download fule maps rom data etc etc, and there is no way il be messing with that without guide lines! Anyone could load it and look at the dials saying o2 responce lean rich and water temp, but thats not hugely useful as most of the information is availbe elsewhere on the car!

You can only read the maps though and not write to them - quite safe. You can then see what point the ECU is using from the map which is a great tuning tool.

Just checked the Conzult screen shots. The engine side of things is similar but it has many more features like the aircon, auto trans, etc. Would have to try the Conzult before I could do an exact engine function comparison.

niggles can you let me knwo how reading the maps could help me lol! Im obviously too stuipid but all i get is the various colours when i download the map... doesnt mean much to me!

If you don't know then you don't need to  ;)

You wanna learn about the stock ECU maps? Ultimate site:

Interesting read, although dont think im going to mess with it. Strikes me as a bit of a pandoras box, although would love to get my zed setup correctly with a sort of custom map!
